[VP] First Update

Day 3,732, 08:12 Published in Ireland Ireland by King Trito Fisher
Citizens of the Republic,
First I would like to thank the citizens of eIreland for voting Ethel for CP. We did an excellent job serving eIreland last month, and I am sure that we will do an excellent job this month as well.

Now, you may have noticed two Tax bills being voted upon in congress right now, and it looks like they will not pass. Needless to say, I am disappointed in this lack of congressional unity. At the behest of our CP, I reviewed our current tax system, and saw that we were behind our 80k CC a month goal to afford MPPs. I did NOT want to increase the Work Tax, so I proposed increasing the VAT on food and weapons only to 5% in order to get monthly income to a safe level.

Hyperbolic claims by the opposition, saying that such a minimal tax increase "crushes" eIrish businesses, have probably led to the bill's demise, and I am saddened by this.

eIreland has long been dependent on the goodwill of private citizens to continue existing. All of our CO money comes from private citizens, for example. What the current administration wanted to do is achieve relative financial independence for the eIrish state by reducing the number of MPPs to 8 and by slightly increasing taxes just enough to be able to pay for all of them. Instead, we may now have to reduce the number of our MPPs even further, a detriment to eIrish military security. Otherwise, the eIrish state would still be dependent on private citizens to pay for routine gov. activities.

Although I was hoping for a minor legislative victory to start the new term as your Taoiseach, it appears I won't have such a victory.

In any case, I will soon start on my next project: organizing the military of eIreland, along with potential national coordinated strikes.
Thank you,
VP Trito Fisher
