The results of the referendum are in! The initial vote tally was:
22 FOR, 2 AGAINST
But there were some spoiled votes. Only two people saw the results, myself, and Winston Hope Smith. We had differing opinions on the definition of "spoiled vote", hence two different counts (although the Yes Vote won by a lot in either count). I felt that, since a significant number of Irish citizens voted without commenting in the article, I perhaps did not make it clear enough in my previous article that it was necessary to comment, whence I decided to include their votes. WHS went along the strict line of "no comment = no vote" that I initially went with.My vote tally:

rules are rules, you can't change them during a vote because some people are too lazy to follow them.
however 10 to 1 is a pretty pathetic result and not a result that would inspire confidence in ireland by the alliance

I think that if people actually wanted to vote completely privately, they had the right to do so. I am sorry their silent votes were eliminated.
However, I am thrilled at these results and it is my hope that the Andes Alliance will be equally thrilled with our desire to join with them.

If you think people should be allowed vote silently then you have not got a clue as that is a recipe for a fixed poll

Congratulations! I am glad it is a convincing result. I didn't vote because I was unsure what would be better for Ireland.

Good thing Winston is irrelevant otherwise he would disenfranchise half the population of Ireland.
Not everyone wants to comment on any small issue ffs.
No vote on Google should have been disqualified for want of a confirmation of voting in the article. The google vote required a citizen name and link. That should be enough.
citizen name and link does not mean it was actually that citizen who voted on the gdoc - thats why trito needed the confirmaion of vote in erep, short of making it a public vote in an erep article or by pm to an org theres no other way to do it without the vote being suspect to manipulation by cheats.
