[VG] My CP Announcement
VaultGuy
Hello Citizens of the eUK.
Today, I would like to announce my candidacy for the eUK Country President position on the 5th of July 2014. I admit, my announcement comes a little close to the election date as I was unsure on whether to run. But after careful consideration, planning and discussing it with my advisor, I am now announcing my candidacy. One of the main reasons for running for CP is that there is a lack of any campaigns from any other players, except BigAnt, therefore I decided to run. However, if another player with a strong campaign runs, I would happily put away my CP hat for another day.
As it seems, BigAnt is the main contender in next months CP elections, announcing his candidacy a few days ago and today releasing an article on holding a referendum on whether to leave the Sirius alliance.
So this article is my announcement for CP joint with my views on a referendum to catch up.
As I am sure many of you know, the eUK is in the Sirius alliance. BigAnt has said that he would like to hold a referendum on whether to leave the alliance if he was to win the elections. Now, some of his reasoning for it is understandable. The choice of alliance we were in should not of been up to a few players, but instead every UK citizen by the way of a vote. Other countries do it, so why didn’t, I do not know.
Now originally, I released this article stating that I would not hold a referendum as I believed that it would do the eUK more worse than good if we left Sirius. However, this did not go down well. The response from my stance was not good and some of the points raised by other players I did not think about before deciding not to have a referendum. Therefore, I will learn from my mistake and listen to the people, and will now have a referendum.
People from my understanding do want the referendum with the main reason being that they did not get a say in whether we joined Sirius. Therefore, in the referendum, only those that were in the eUK at the time we joined Sirius will only be able to vote in the referendum. So, anyone who joined the eUK by citizenship or otherwise after February 2014 will not be able to vote.
Changing my stance on this issue has decreased the size of my article a little so here is a picture of a cat on a llama.
To finish off, I’d just like to include a little about myself. I am not the most experienced player there is, I have not held many Minister positions in government in my time here in eRepublik but from past Country Presidents, experience isn't everything. Especially when the CP is inactive, and if it is inactivity you are worried about, if I become CP, your worries will be no more. You don’t get no bigger no lifers than myself.
Tomorrow I’ll be releasing an article on stuff such as plans and Ministry stuff and what not.
This includes my first CP article. Have thyself a pleasant day!

Good luck sir o7
Who'll nominate you (considering you've just joined WRP)?
Deleted the last article eh?
Still my point remains, you have basically said you dont trust the voters to make their own decision on whether or not to have referendum vote on our membership.
I believe that this decision should never have been made by the few but by the many.
Or wait now you are holding a referendum :3
Already back tracking? lol
Good luck pal
I like how you've had to vote your own comment there
Calm down BigAnt.
He made a point, listened to the opposing argument and with this new information he modified his point of view.
I'm encouraged that he doesn't rigidly believe he has all the answers and can take on new points of view.
>"So, anyone who joined the eUK by citizenship or otherwise after February 2014 will not be able to vote."
However ^
You can't disenfranchise eUKers like that.
I sorta follow your reasoning but taken to its logical point does that mean I can't vote as I was pretty much inactive at the time?
Why can new players not vote on an issue that has a big impact on them?
If you are worried about the vote being tainted or influenced then maybe a cut-off from the date of the PP elections or better yet when BA released his article and made it a talking point of the campaign.
I agree, limiting it to people who were born/joined the eUK before the referendum was suggested makes a lot of sense to me, if only so we don't have to put up with all the back-and-forthing over whether X is a multi created to win the referendum or not. Limiting it much further than that disenfranchises too many people.
good luck
Not bad but .......So, anyone who joined the eUK by citizenship or otherwise after February 2014 will not be able to vote.
This is very silly
I agree, very silly if you imported many Serbians to try and influence politics in the eUK
This is not a great way to encourage new players to engage with and learn about the political side of the game. We should be doing as much as we can to welcome new players and encouraging them to stay and help make our country stronger. This would seem to do the opposite.
