[Vanguard] A plan for presidency.

Day 1,960, 14:23 Published in Denmark Denmark by pho3nix

Dear Danes.

It shouldn't be wierd to anyone of you that IRL can funk up your eRep-activity. It might however be strange to learn that eRep can funk you up IRL. I feel a bit lost at this point - I have to tell you that honestly. Both personally, professionally and eRep-wise. Personally because I've met people that I've previously haven't met in quite some time - and some new people. They've had an effect on my mind, and I haven't felt like that for quite some time. Professionally, I'm about to embark on something of an adventure: living and working in Norway. It's going to be tough, expensive and perhaps a bit lonely - and that's going to be wierd as well. I'll do my best to not have that have any effect on my eRep-performance.

eRep wise, I've been taking a beating as well. Last week, Vanguard - me leading the charge - fought in the forums for the idea to pass our Welfare scheme. We met some determined oposition, which perhaps wasn't what I had envisioned. After all, I came up with the plan to make things easier, more playable for most people. Myself included, I can't lie about that. After taking on the oposition almost singlehandedly, my colleagues joined the fray. The result was namecalling, being stubborn and Percival deciding to put his political career on the shelf.

It's sad to see bickering being the reason to quit, especially in times like these. I have faith two-clicking for a while though, and now it seems I'll have the opportunity to serve as president for at least a term. It's a great honour, but I'd still like to invite some competition for the race. Old players, like myself, shouldn't really need a position as high as Country President to get noticed - I can make sure I'm seen in other ways. But that's not the only reason I'm inviting oposition:

I'm going to propose some radical changes to the command structure of the country:
- First of all, I've asked Maine Coon to continue her work as Minister of Foreign Affairs. She's been doing a great job being one of the few active people in the German society we've tied ourselves so close to. Not only is she my employer, but a true Hero of eDenmark - sticking it through with the lot of us. She's got the connections and definitely the best candidate suitable for this job.

- I'd also like to see Sasori5 continue his work as Minister of Finance, but he'll be asked to perform a lot more than just sitting on the codes to the vault: I want to see how money is being spent, and if money is flowing as it should. If not, I want a strategy to improve that situation - and he'll need help proposing something like this. Volunteers report to me or to Sasori.

- I will not employ a Minister of Defense, because I really can't see the point of it - and I leave it to congress to convince me otherwise. Danish security is dependent on the good will of our neighbours, and so our efforts should be focused on making that cooperation working smoother. I also firmly believe that if we should support some kind of military force, it should be a federal army. Our resources could be better pooled there, and people willing to focus mainly on fighting could be given a real purpose instead of the soup kitchen it's become in my eyes. It would also be in the sprit of the new union treaty draft. More on this later.

- There will not be a Ministry of Labour, at least not on my initiative. Vanguard's article on the program was met with silence, and the will to drive this through seems to be lacking. Right now, I will await suggestions from Vanguard's de-facto political opposition on how to improve living conditions for the general public of Denmark. I'm also confident Congress is the right forum for such a discussion - and that such a discussion will take place, given the events around the Welfare program. I will wait patiently for a response, something we are yet to see.

- The new union treaty will also be of great focus to me, especially in the light of the recent events in Norway - which came as a complete surprise to me, as many of You. Germany has our gratitude and respect, but it's important to maintain the spirit of equality that has been very much appreciated by us Danes - and I will do everything in my power to revigorate trust and strenght in our union, for a common good - and hopefully a common future.

As for the Danish community, I still have some tricks up my sleave. Just give me time to think and help me out when I ask for it; and we might once again live in a vibrant society - and you are all part of that. Recently our media has recovered, a serious PTO-threat has been averted and our union has stood the test of faith.

There is much to look forward to, in the state of Denmark.
