Salut Belgium Citizens,

As you hopefully have noticed from my previous article I am running for president again of eBelgium and hoping to get reelected for a second turn. As was also the case the previous month, in this article I will post my manifesto, my plans for eBelgium for the upcoming month. A president has to have plans and a vision and not should not just be business as usual and go on where we left off.

At the moment there is nobody else running for president and I think it is a shame that nobody has taken the gauntlet and decide to ran against me to make it a real election. I would love somebody (a non PTO candidate) run, somebody who has a clear vision and views for eBelgium. I think nobody else being interested in running says enough about eBelgium politics these days even in congress not a lot is being said in the topics discussed.

Foreign Affairs

TWO is still going strong and with the dissolvement of COT last month there isn't that much opposition. eBelgium still has friends on both TWO side (like Poland and eUnited Kingdom) as in former COT allies.There have been whispers of alliances here and there but with TWO still around no new alliance even if it would be formed would stay around for long. Because of this eBelgium will keep a neutral stance again this upcoming month, with having friends with different alliances and allegiances we will walk the thin line of being neutral.

eUnited-Kingdom and Poland has been good allies to us as been other countries who have been helping us and countries that we have been helping in their battles. Helping allies in battles is important in foreign affairs. Relations between eBelgium and eNetherlands under the administration of van Spijck has been strained. Where the month before eNetherlands and eBelgium worked together this last month there has been a lot of arguing going on between our two countries. eBelgium will keep a close eye on the elections in eNetherlands and hope that relations between our two countries can be restored.

Defense

The defense department wasn't as active as I had hoped this month because of the holidays and real life circumstances of the Minister of Defense and I hope this upcoming month will be better. Mutual Protection Pacts were signed with Albania and Brazil. These MPP help us with Military Units being able to set Daily orders and giving the soldiers the chance to fulfill the daily orders and get their daily bazooka and energy bar. Upcoming month all four MPP will needs to renewed and we'll be reviewing which ones will be renewed and if we will sign four MPP or go back to two MPP's.

Because of the holidays, Sinterklaas, Christmas and upcoming new years day there hasn't been a lot of Civilian Strikes. Upcoming month I'll be aiming at doing at least one Civilian Strike a week if that is possible. We also going to try to get more people to participate in the Civilian Strike.

Important thing going on currently in the Defense Department and something that we'll still be doing the start of the the upcoming term is liberating eBelgium regions. We are currently liberating eBelgium regions from Poland temporarily so the determination will be lowered. This is done because when the determination gets too high it becomes too easy for a RW to be won. In the future, before the next congress elections we will NE Poland and they will take back our regions so we won't have congress elections. This Upcoming week it will be important to fight for Belgium and win the resistance wars to liberate our regions.

National Security

eBelgium is still under a PTO threat and we still have to take measures against the PTO and stay vigilant. National Security is very important, multies need to be sighted and reported, elections need to be prepared. It is important that eBE will be wiped before the congress elections and that we won't have congress elections this upcoming month so the PTO'ers can't expend their numbers by illegally letting in more Croats.

I have already said so previous month in my campaign article but I would like to repeat it again this month that I have lived in countries that was PTO or under PTO threat I know what it is to live in a country where the true citizens of the country don't have full control and I can assure you it's not fun and I hope we can spare Belgium and it's citizens to have to live under Croatian control. I have heard the argument that maybe being PTO'ed is better than living in a country that is wiped but those are arguments of people who never lived under the oppression of a PTO. Yes it's inconvenient but living in a country with no regions isn't as bad as living in a country that you have no control over.

Education

This month there been a lot of planning and discussing in the Education Department but not a lot of actually articles came out. Upcoming month I will need Education to actively write articles to help new citizens. I will be looking for people who like writing articles and who are willing to write these articles. As a new citizen it is overwhelming and it is easy to make wrong decides on for instance how to spend your gold. With these articles we need to educate new citizens and hopefully keep them from quitting the game.

Finance

The theft of money in the eUK just shows that you can't trust Country President and that it is better to have money in the hands of trusted people like eBelgium has done with Bank Managers something that the eUK also might want to consider to prevent this from happening again. As for our finances, the situation is still bleak, state income is still low especially with us being wiped and the economy of erepublik being as bad as it currently is. Only thing we can do is muddle through.

Congress

With the wipe eBelgium doesn't have a congress, the only one who is able to vote ingame is the president. Although I cannot change this in my previous campaign article I had promised to some sort of out of game congress. There has been discussion on this matter and there were different proposals on how this should be done. There hasn't been made a final decision on this but it will be decided soon hopefully to get some sort of democracy back to eBelgium. I hope wehn this is place the activity of congress will also be better then it was been the last couple of month's.
