[USWP] Disappointing

Day 4,541, 10:27 Published in USA USA by SColbert

Hello USWP Nation,

Yesterday the congressional elections were held, and it is obvious to everyone that we did poorly. As your Party President I take full responsibility for these results, and ask that you read my message below to understand what I did to prepare for these elections, what more I could have done, and where we go from here.

Since my election I have worked hard to engage with our membership. I have shown our activity. I have spoken with many of you about your ideas for our party. I have had discussions with you on discord, here in game, and on our forum. I have mass messaged our party multiple times. I have tried to be active in the media and in our party feed, as my time dictates.

All these efforts were done in part to help elevate activity, in preparation for congressional elections. Additionally I messaged every member of a top 10 6th party asking for their votes in support of USWP. It is obvious that these efforts did not work.

I started reflecting yesterday as it became clear we would not do well what more I could have done. What I believe everyone should know, and something I have said since I started my term as your Party President is that I cannot do this alone. One of the ideas I had coming into this position was that we should require any player who wished to run for congress, should have to publish an article in support of their candidacy and USWP. The idea being it would show our membership as well as the eUS that we are an active party deserving of their time and vote. This was an idea I should have ran with, but one I put aside because I thought given how few candidates we had sign up to run I should not be making demands and potentially antagonizing active players. I also engaged with certain players I thought would make good candidates, but this led to no results.

Again I have spent the last 10 days as your Party President talking with our membership and trying to engage our membership. This did not work, and I have to ask myself why. I believe there are a number of answers to this question.

1. I could have done more to engage people. I could have been more active in media and mass messaging our party. I could have asked more of those around me to help with this task.

2. The mission I was trying to accomplish was not one I could solve in 10 days. This is a long term project that could take months.

I want to make something clear. This not the first time our party has experienced such a drop in our standing. When I first joined USWP many years ago we were going through something similar. I had been a 6th party member for many years, who was looking for a change, and one of the aspects that drew me to USWP at that time was the underdog reputation the party had. It was under the leadership of a player named Othere who was working hard to bring us back to our former glory. His efforts succeeded, but it took a lot of work.

This should have give us hope that better is still possible, but like I have already mentioned in this article I cannot do it by myself. It is going to take players stepping up either with ideas, or a willingness to put in the effort this will take. I am asking you all to please help me with this project.

Please anything you can think of I am open to trying. I have another 20 days in this position at least. I intend to use that time to do my job as your Party President, and will not be dismayed by these results.

I will leave you on this note. It is obvious we did not do well. But our past does not have to dictate our future. We can use this time to build. We can build up activity, we can show why USWP should be respected, and why we have had success in this game. USWP is one of the greatest parties to ever exist in the eUS. Our past successes just as our current setbacks do not speak to our future. We cannot waste this time, and I ask you to please not let us.
