[USA] Surrender Is Not An Option

Day 615, 12:04 Published in USA Switzerland by Billy Bob Joe

With the defeats in California and Alberta looming, some people are simply saying we should surrender. That PEACE cannot be stopped, and that they have beaten us. That anything else is impossible. Well, I would say that you are wrong. PEACE can be defeated, and these battles simply serve to prove it.

These days, our situation appears grim. PEACE occupies most of Canada and a large portion of the USA. We are losing battles, and our allies are falling. Perhaps. But surrender has never stopped defeat, only proven it. Nearly every strong empire, every super power, has been founded by nearly reaching total defeat and refusing to give in.

Canada was once a small, inactive little cave, with only a handful of experienced people, known as the “Paradoxians” after the Paradox forum from which they arose from. The USA, large from the influx of new players and all their superiority, launched an invasion. Using glitches and bugs in conjunction with their superior power, the USA soon occupied 9 out of 13 of the Canadian provinces. Canadian leaders began discussing life in exile, and all hope seemed lost. Suddenly, people arose to defend Canada in its hour of need. Italians, Swedes, Romanians, Iranians, and Indonesians all fought for the cause of defending Canada, all those who one would never expect to be united in these days. The USA soon proved itself to be over extended and bloated. The Canadians behind enemy lines started sabotaging the US market and media, and the US army crumbled, leaving on the Pakistani mobile forces and a handful of Americans who could afford their own weapons. At the time, Pakistan was almost certainly the world's strongest nation, but the united forces of Swedes, Iranians, Canadians, French, and Italians was enough to beat them.

Poland once only had about 12 people, only two of whom were real Poles. The Americans who were hated by America moved there, like John Jakeson. Their little homeland was small and worthless, and they had no allies to speak of. One day, after the conquest of most of Germany, the Germans (at the time having a large, experienced base of strong troops) decided they needed the land in Poland, and launched an invasion. The Poles, backed by a couple Swedes, Americans, and Czechs, did their best to survive. They won battles, even against the larger, stronger forces of the Germans and their Pakistani allies. But, in the end, they were conquered by Germany. The remaining Pole, Popolo, refused to give in however. He called every Pole he could, and they took over Germany, trashing it and giving both Poland and Germany to control of Sweden, leaving Poland to be liberated later.

PEACE was once a pitiful alliance, formed by all those the “strong nation” alliance of ATLANTIS didn't want. They tried to stand up to ATLANTIS in defense of Hungary against Romania, and were trashed every time. No matter what they did, they failed against the larger, more powerful alliance. Hungary was possibly only saved by the arrival of V1 and the pausing of all wars. Even then, PEACE looked hopeless, with it only having two truly strong nations in Indonesia and Pakistan, and Pakistan having recently fallen apart. But PEACE refused to simply give up. They fought back whenever they could, and eventually ATLANTIS launched Operation French Toast. PEACE lost in the beginning, and it looked like the world would be split among the ATLANTIS nations and those who attempted some minor resistance. But then, PEACE started to win, and continued to win. After that point, it was no longer a matter of weak nations VS strong nations, it was a fair fight (cheating and glitching not included, as both sides used them). Soon, ATLANTIS was dead due to internal problems, and PEACE was the apparent victor.

Hungary, up until recently, was never a powerful nation. Their attempts at conquest and imperialism failed miserably. At one point, they took on the newly-formed nation of Czechslovakia (after a brief Czech-Slovak war which the Czechs won) for control of Slovakia for “historical reasons”. The Czechs fought back, and the Hungarians were losing a battle for every battle they won. Keep in mind that the Czechs were in no alliance, whereas Hungary was in the second largest alliance in the world at the time. President Nave of the USA decided it was time for revenge against those who screwed over his invasion of Canada. He packed his bags with huge amounts of gold and weaponry, took a plane to the Czech Republic, and started tanking. In the days of Beta, tanking was a serious matter. It took hundreds of gold to do right, because fights generally either ended with no enemies left, or you left with 40 wellness. But Nave tanked hard. He not only won the Czechs their battles, he managed to conquer Budepest with only the help of a handful of Czechs using their cheap weapons and low level hospital. From there, Hungary was only saved by the arrival of Canada, Italy, and France with their mobile forces fighting to beat back Nave. Even then, the Hungarians never managed to completely conquer the Czechs, and decided to settle with just Slovakia. After this brief debacle, Hungary was then completely curb stomped by their larger, stronger neighbor, Romania. Had Hungary simply surrendered then and there, Hungary would still be the weak nation that it was at the time. But they kept fighting and bided their time. Eventually, a huge baby boom started, and Hungary was on the road to becoming a super power.

In every example, surrender would have been the quick and easy way out. The Hungarian economy certainly wasn't doing well with only a couple regions left. But in all cases, they fought on, and eventually prevailed. As such, we should do the same.

California and Alberta are big losses, but they go to show that PEACE knows that it can't win the long war against a resolute enemy. Nearly 10,000 gold was spent by PEACE in claiming California, which is no small amount. California was not even the largest wall that could be made. If PEACE hit Florida or New Jersey, the counterparts of California on the East Coast, they would be smashed to pieces, be it by their failure to win or by their spending every piece of gold they could muster to win a battle which they have to repeat. What PEACE is aiming at is high profile victories to scare us into surrender. Because they know that if they are forced into a long, costly war, they shall lose. They know all the ranting about “carving up the USA” is a bunch of Balogne, but they also know that the best (and perhaps only) way to win this war is to get the American people to surrender. If they cannot achieve this, they are stuck in a long, hard war which they cannot win, which will destroy them from the strain. If the American people are prepared to accept losses, to accept defeats, and yet to keep fighting anyway, PEACE cannot win. They cannot afford many more flashy victories like California, nor do they want to have to keep them up. The farther they advance, the more problems appear, the more issues they face. Our allies throughout the world are willing to help. Their allies are beginning to lose loyalty, and cracks are appearing in them. Already, their true face is beginning to show. They left their allies in Italy to be captured by Croats as they attempted (and failed) to defeat Canada (Canada was given about 500 votes from Hungary, whereas Italy received 10 foreign votes on their behalf).

This war is not over, and it shall not be over until every piece of land has been returned. Until then, so long as there is one region owned by Canada or the US, so long as there are people willing to fight for it, so long as there are allies willing to support it, the war can and shall be winnable. The only people who can force the defeat of America are the American people.
