[UKGov]World in Conflict

Day 1,093, 16:36 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office

The last few days have been very exciting worldwide, with conflicts flaring up around the globe. The last few days have also been more positive for both the UK and has also been quite a good time for Phoenix and hopefully it'll get even better next week.

Hungary wiped by Croatia and Romania

In my previous report I mentioned the Croatian and Romanian attacks that happened on Friday, which resulted in Romania taking Northern Great Plain and Northern Hungary and Croatia taking Southern Transdanubia and Southern Great Plain. Hours before I wrote Saturdays report Croatia launched attacks on all 3 of Hungary's remaining regions, however these were unsuccessful. Things got worse for Hungary on Sunday afternoon when Romania attacked their capital and most populous region, Central Hungary. Hungary and Phoenix were defeated extremely heavily, with Romania winning 8 mini battles in a row. After the fall of Central Hungary on Monday morning, the credit card waving Romanians attacked Central Transdanubia, which they also won relatively easily. Western Transdanubia was attacked and a resistance war was started in their Austrian region of Burgenland. Both of these fell, meaning that for the first time in erepublik history Hungary were wiped off the map. However, despite the EDEN trolls acting like Christmas had come early, Hungary returned to the map through resistance wars in Northern Great Plain and Northern Hungary in less than 24 hours. They have also successfully RW'd back Central Transdanubia and are currently in the lead in Western Transdanubia. Taking all of these successful resistance wars into account they could well be back on the map within a couple of days, which would be a brilliant comeback. The whole loss of Hungary was apparently part of a plan to return Romanian held Russian regions, with Hungary used as a distraction. It looks like this plan has worked to perfection. Apart from the remaining Resistance Wars this front will probably quieten down for now as Hungary's wars with Romania and Croatia were closed when they were wiped off the map.

The UK Repels Invasion

On Monday, Canada, having conquered both the East and West Midlands, attacked the East of England, which borders our key fortress region, London. The battle in the East of England was extremely intense with large numbers of UK and Phoenix citizens giving their all to keep the canucks from London, with the battle ending after midnight on Tuesday, nearing towards the Canadian primetime. We really needed to win the last mini battle and we did, with the final result 8-4 to us, meaning we secured the region successfully. We then went on the counter attack, winning both the West and East Midlands fairly easily. We then launched an attack on Yorkshire & Humberside, which is currently very much in the balance, although with Phoenix distracted with key battles in continental Europe winning may be a tough task. Ireland have also attacked Wales, although it is unlikely they will manage to conquer the region and it is probably a distraction. The UK is still not totally safe from invasion, but the last few days have been very successful and it is unlikely London will come under attack in imminent future. Our main threat from invasion is now arguably from Western Europe, where Poland are advancing menacingly.

War Rages in Northern Europe

Over the last week or so Poland have slowly been advancing through Germany, backed by their EDEN allies Sweden and Italy. The attacks continued at the start of this week, with Poland successfully taking Lower Saxony and Bremen from the UK. They also successfully conquered North Rhine Westphalia, giving them a border with the Netherlands. However, at the same time as Poland were crushing Germany, the UK attacked all of the Netherlands' regions to wipe the country and close the active war with Poland, forming a buffer between us and Poland. We then returned all of the Netherlands' regions through resistance wars. Poland continued their onslaught into Germany, easily conquering Rhineland Palatinate and earlier today attacked the final German region, Saarland. Germany are currently losing heavily, however this is not a major problem for Phoenix as it will close the open war and Germany should be able to return to the map through resistance wars before the congressional elections. To counter the threat posed to France, France have attacked Rhineland Palatinate and are currently winning. There is a good chance that France will try and push further into Polish occupied Germany, removing their proximity to France and the UK's key regions. It will be interesting to see if France can keep the momentum on their side and how long it will take for Germany to return to the map.

USA kicked out of South East Asia

The last few days saw the balance of power in South East Asia swinging rapidly between the US and Indonesia. The latest flare up in this lengthy conflict happened over the weekend when the USA attacked Sumatra. The battle was extremely close, with Indonesia just one mini battle away from victory for much of the fight, but in the end huge levels of EDEN tanking swung the battle in the USA's favour. This was a historic moment as Indonesia has never lost one of its original regions to an enemy before. The USA then attempted an attack on Java but were convincingly defeated. The USA had recently returned all their regions in Malaysia and Thailand via resistance wars so when a resistance war in Sumatra was one by Indonesia the USA lost its last outpost in South East Asia, although it does still have Kerala in southern India, meaning it could attempt to reach Indonesia again. It looks like this conflict will quieten down over the next few days with Indonesia and the USA no longer within striking distance.

The Russian Resistance Continues

Weeks after getting back Far Eastern Russia and staving off an EDEN PTO attempt, Russia returned a few more regions to the map, all of which were Romanian held regions. These were the Urals, a key high Iron region, Volga, which has high grain and the North Caucasus which has high oil. They are also trying to free Central Black Earth although the battle there is looking too close to call at the moment. Russia are also undergoing a mini babyboom so all in all things seem to be looking up for the embattled former superpower.

The Rest
-Estonia return to the map through resistance wars however Finland still hold their high grain region.
-Skirmishes between Serbia, Romania and Croatia continue in the balkans with no one gaining the upper hand.
-Spain opened up attacks just as I was about to release this report on the key high region Aquitane and on the strategically important regions of Languedoc Rousillon and Midi-Pyrenees. This is probably intended to be a distraction from the crucial battle of Rhineland Palatinate.

That's it for today, I'm sure they'll be more exciting news on Saturday.
