[UKGov]War Rages Across Europe

Day 1,089, 15:53 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office
Welcome to another update from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The last few days have been quite exciting although they haven't been great for Phoenix. Hopefully I'll be able to bring you more good news in my next update!

The War in Germany

As you know a huge war has erupted in Germany in the past few days, with the embattled nation currently fought over by five different countries. The war that is raging today began with Polish excursions into Eastern Germany at the start of the week. Poland, Sweden and Italy have continued their three pronged assault on Germany, with Poland taking Berlin, Saxony Anhalt, Hesse and Thuringia. They also attempted an attack on Lower Saxony and Bremen which if it had fallen would have given Poland access to the Netherlands and later France and the UK which would have proved disastrous for Phoenix. Germany managed to hold on to Lower Saxony and Bremen however it was later conquered by Sweden. This was when the UK got involved. After moving through the Netherlands we attacked Swedish held Lower Saxony and managed to conquer it with Phoenix support. Yesterday we attacked the two remaining Swedish regions of Schleswig Holstein and Hamburg and Mecklenburg Western Pomerania. The UK was defeated quite heavily in both attacks due to Phoenix being distracted in Hungary. Poland have continued to attack German regions and are marching towards France and the Netherlands at an alarming rate and are nearing Germany's most populous region, Saarland. Italy have also launched attacks from the south on Bavaria, Saxony and look set to win in Baden Wuttemburg. Things look bad for Germany who will only have three regions left by tomorrow and with two bordered by Poland and Italy they will be fighting for survival tomorrow and it will be interesting to see if the UK's manoeuvres in the region can help Germany from getting wiped off the map.

Huge Assault on Hungary

On Friday, whilst the battle in Germany was receiving the focus of much of the eWorld, Romania and Croatia launched a two pronged attack on Hungary. These attacks were largely successful, with Romania taking Northern Great Plain and Northern Hungary and Croatia taking Southern Great Plain and Southern Transdanubia. On Saturday night Croatia attacked Hungary's three remaining original regions, putting them under threat of being wiped off the map. Whilst this is unlikely due to their status as a powerful nation, this still needs to be considered as a major threat to their sovereignty and will undoubtedly draw large amounts of Phoenix damage away from the battles in Germany, which was probably one of the main aims of the attack. This will cause major problems to an already over stretched Phoenix and it will be interesting to see if both Germany and Hungary will be able to survive the EDEN onslaught.

France and Brazil continue their attacks on Spain

Over the last few days France and Brazil have attempted to regain lost ground in Spain, with France attacking four regions and Brazil attacking one. Sadly, all of these attacks were unsuccessful and Phoenix no longer have a foothold in the Iberian Peninsula, although Brazil still hold the Canary Islands, a key region that is the link between South America and Europe. This front will probably quieten down over the next few days due to the hugely important wars in Germany and Hungary, although there is still an opportunity for it to quite easily flare up again.

Estonia is Wiped by Finland

Over the last few days Finland and Latvia launched attacks on Estonia. With their low numbers of MPPs and Phoenix' business in Germany they were beaten quit easily by the EDEN attackers, who were mainly attacking to acquire Estonia's high grain, a resource that Finland desperately needs. Estonia fell fairly quickly, however it will hopefully be able to return to the map fairly quickly through resistance wars, although it may struggle to reclaim its high grain region if EDEN decide to heavily support Finland in keeping their new found resources.

The Rest
- Canada took another two UK regions, the East and West Midlands, which leaves them within striking distance of London, just needing to win one more region to attack the UK's key fortress region.
- The USA launched an attack on Sumatra, an Indonesian original region however it is currently looking like a relatively easy victory for the defenders.

That's it for today, hopefully I'll have better things to report on Tuesday.
