[UKGov]UK Today #16, The Irish Region Swap

Day 1,818, 13:33 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office

Hello and welcome to issue 16 of the Ministry of Education's UK Today, the less popular supplement of the Guide To...'s! With Ireland asking to renew the land swap deal we had and the referendum on the issue, today I wrote about that!

Last month the UK and Ireland had a deal where Ireland would get Northern Ireland and Scotland in return for Wexford and Louth. When Talon came to office one of the first things he did was to cancel this deal and return to our original regions so we could focus on the inevitable training war we’d have. Only a few days ago we were contacted by their government again asking whether we can renew the deal so that Ireland can get itself some region bonuses. What we get out of this monetarily is negligible, but it will certainly improve our relations with our Irish neighbour which has certainly been rocky over the last few months but has improved recently. You may be asking then, if there’s no benefit we gain from swapping regions then what’s the point, but we won’t really lose anything if we swap anyway. Diplomacy is the core principle in this deal. This isn’t something the government is taking lightly however, and so it’s been decided that we will hold a referendum over the issue so that you, the people, decide whether this deal will go ahead or not. Over the next few days I’ll be PMing people in the eUK with a link to the form to fill out and the majority will decide whether it’ll be accepted or not, as well as having a few other opinion polls attached to. To the Party Presidents who read this or get a PM, I urge you get your members to vote on this so that they have their say. Tomorrow I’ll publish a Guide To… The Irish Region Swap in which I’ll lay out some history between our two nations and include some current stats and figures courtesy of eGov!

Next, over the last couple of days I’ve been talking to BigAnt and I’ve been putting the census to good use. Most of our population is under level 29 so I have successfully convinced BigAnt to raise the cap to 29 too! I’ve done a few sums and it is pretty viable financially, which certainly is a relief for me. Up until now the cap has been level 24 and of all countries that offer this kind of thing, it’s one of the lowest around which is obvious to see why when you realise the very short time that someone stays at that level. Hopefully he keeps it this way for as long as he is able to! If you’re level 29 or under, and a British citizen, then you can apply for 500 health each day for free by clicking here.

Finally, if you want to get yourself a mentor to help you through the game, or if you want to become a mentor yourself or you just have one question you want answered then fill out this form here. Anyone of any level is welcome so long as they are a British citizen!

As ever, there are various ministries looking for some new help. If you want to join and help the Ministry of Education then you should read this thread and follow what it says. The MoE is all about mentoring new players and writing guides and other things generally to do with education. If Foreign Affairs is more your cup of tea then not to worry, they’re recruiting too! Again, all you need to do it follow what it says in this thread. Foreign Affairs is all about building contacts and getting information from other countries.

We have a brand new mentoring form! Now, if you want to have a mentor, be a mentor or you just have a question you wish to ask then don’t hesitate to take a look at the form here. I’ll be trying to circulate this over the coming month so please pass the link on to people who’ll need it !

As I said a few articles ago, the NHS relies on donations from the public to keep going, so if you have an amount of food clogging up your inventory space, or you’d just like to help support new players, then you can donate to BigAnt, no matter how much or how little we’ll be very grateful for it!

If you missed the last article and want to know about the Military Units of the eUK you can do so by reading the latest Encyclopædia Britannica article by clicking right here.
