[UKGov]Battles Rage across the World

Day 1,126, 16:13 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office
Welcome to another report of the exciting events across the world, from Europe to the Americas. There have been some particularly epic battles over the past few days, and also some pretty big scandals, which I'll go into later :3

Serbia and Croatia capture the world's attention

My last report left off with the opening of the battle for South Dalmatia, victory in which would give Serbia all five food resources and give them the full 25% production bonus. It turned out to be quite a close fought battle, although in the end the Serbian and Phoenix forces managed to beat the Croatians, many of whom felt they were being ignored by EDEN, who were focusing on other battles between Turkey and Greece. This gave Serbia their production bonus, which will undoubtedly be a great boost for their economy if they manage to hold it long term. Then they attempted to negotiate a peace treaty with Croatia, as a result of which they mutually declared Erepublik as a natural enemy, meaning neither of them now had the natural enemy bonus of 10% against each other. However, the negotiations broke down at the last minute, after Serbia had already lost the first two mini battles, as was part of the deal, of the battle they had opened for the extremely strategically important region of Istria and Kvarner, crucial as it would allow Serbia to swap into Central Europe through only one Slovenian region, saving attack costs and meaning peace could be signed far more swiftly. What followed was undoubtedly the biggest battle since attack costs were removed with both sides and their alliances putting in huge amounts of damage. One of those doing his fair share of tanking was HisAirness, a Croatian global moderator, and whilst he was far from the biggest tank in the battle, the reason I'm focusing on him is because he probably used up to 300g of multi gold for tanking, remember this is a global mod who is supposed to be stamping out cheating and whilst he wasn't necessarily running the multis himself he was still benefiting heavily from them, and it was a relief to see he was banned and his moderator privileges seemingly removed, although he has since been unbanned. Now on to the more positive side of the battle, the thrilling climactic mini battle, the 14th, with Serbia leading 7-6, was a sight to behold. There was a massive array of tanking on both sides, with hundreds of gold spent by Serbia and Phoenix and Croatia and EDEN alike. At the end, where Serbia earned a hard fought victory the battle heroes were veteran Serbian tank fib and the also extremely strong dSoKre perhaps not most famous for his tanking but for his world renowned, most subscribed newspaper in the world and his stint as Croatian CP. They both had over 1.5 million influence in just that single mini battle. Since then Serbia have attacked Northern Dalmatia, mainly in an effort to destroy Croatia, however the Croatians are currently holding strong in the battle, with a 3-0 lead, although things may change overnight.

The war in the Mediterranean continues

The other conflict that has been in the spotlight these past few days has been the age old rivalry between Turkey and Greece, which was re ignited almost a week ago and has since seen fierce fighting from the countries involved and their alliances. Earlier in the week Turkey, after their first attempt to take a Greek region came to nothing, attempted an attack on the Aegean Islands, capture of which is one of their national goals. The battle was heavily fought however huge amounts of Greek and EDEN tanking, mostly funded by some very rich RL Greeks saw off the attacks, Greece winning 8-3. Greece followed this up with an attack on the symbolically important Turkish colony of Southern Cyprus. They won this battle easily, again through heavy Greek tanks like Exohortis and Megalexandros hitting extremely hard, with the final result a disappointing defeat for Turkey, 8-1. The Greeks then hit the key economic grain region of Northern Cyprus, which was heavily defended by Turkey and Phoenix, and was possibly also helped by the battle in South Dalmatia, which drew away damage from elsewhere. The 8-1 victory they achieved is still extremely impressive and it looks like they will try and reconquer Southern Cyprus or go for another attemp at the Greek mainland in the next 12 hours, as they currently hold the initiative. Both these countries look to be in it for the long run and with the enemies so evenly matched its hard to see this war ending anytime soon.

USA invade Mexico

One of the main aims of the Frost administration in America is being fulfilled this week, with his manifesto pledge of invasion of Mexico to get the USA Rubber and Saltpeter. They began with an attack on Baja, a Saltpeter region, which whilst Mexico won the first battle ended up as a pushover for the North American superpower. They followed this up with an attack on Northeast of Mexico, which they also cruised home to victory at, 8-1 again. They then struck at Gulf of Mexico, which they won yet again, this time crushing Mexico 8-0. They then moved on Oaxaca, which they are comfortably leading in, meaning they should hit their target, the rubber region of Southeast of Mexico, within the next 24 hours. Coupled with their region swap with Japan, where they aim to get deer, the reason behind the Japanese attack on Hawaii, this will mean that in the next few days they will become the second nation, after China, to get all 10 resources, meaning they will have the full 25% production bonus on both weapons and food. Many around the world will this as ominous, with their economic power being increased dramatically. Things look pretty bad for Mexico, although there is a good chance that the USA may relent and not bother to conquer the other, useless for them, Mexican regions, which would give Mexico some reprieve.

Battles rage in the Baltics

After the mainly Lithuanian force conquered Latvia earlier this week, the Phoenix allies in the area, Lithuania and Estonia have focused on freeing Estonia from Finnish occupation. After this they forumlated a plan to invade Finland, using Lithuania as it is far more powerful than Estonia. To do this they needed to swap into Pojha Eesti, held by Finland at the time. Finland started and won a RW that meant Lithuania could no longer swap towards Finland, meaning the a Lithuanian invasion was averted. They also returned their other regions, but this time through direct war. They began by defending Louna Eesti against Finnish attack in a relatively close battle that they won with the help of Phoenix forces and tanks from around the globe. They then moved on Kesk Eesti, crushing the Finns 8-2, whilst a busy EDEN seemed to forget about them. This continued when Estonia made their first foray into Finnish territory through an attack on Southern Finland and whilst close became yet another fantastic victory for the smaller Phoenix nation. They have since attacked Western Finland, with the battle currently looking to close to call with the result at 3 mini battles each. Latvia have returned to the map fully, with the exception of Latgale, which is currently held by Russia and Lithuania hold a position bordering Finland in Laane Eesti, meaning they could get involved in the conflict in the next few days.

The Rest
- France gain a foothold in Canada in the form of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and could potentially make a move on the symbolically important region of Quebec, whilst Canada, through some odd diplomatic moves which didn't seem to tune in with their allies strategies lost their MPPs with Spain and the USA through signing MPPs with Venezuela and Mexico respectively. The lack of these two strong powers is very unhelpful for them at this time as they are still under heavy threat of invasion.
- China have taken a number of regions of Pakistan, making them the first nation to get all 10 raw materials, whilst Pakistan have made moves against Thailand possibly to get some rubber, a resource they lost to China.
- Hungary and Romania continue their daily skirmishes in the Balkans, with it looking like Hungary has the upper hand, although these battles have been a sideshow to the epic battles between Serbia and Croatia over the last few days really.
- Argentina have invaded their smaller neighbour Chile as they look to get as many resources as possible, if all goes to plan they will probably acquire all but one resource grain, which is very scarce in South America, therefore something they are unlikely to attain in the near future.

That's it for today, its a bit long but a lot has happened over the last few days that I thought I should include.
