[UK-Reform] Congress and more.

Day 2,129, 08:46 Published in United Kingdom Belgium by mittekemuis

Hello again,
Yes, I know it is soon after the previous article. It can’t be helped really. I promised to inform and its already that time in the month where we as party should be thinking about congress.
I also want to present you an article written by our newest member RAF-Daniel. He is putting all his gold and money in progressing strength and experience so he doesn’t have gold to spare to create his own newspaper yet. I am sure one of you is willing to help him out with that.

Presenting RAF-Daniel

Hello ladies and gentlemen, first of all, I want to introduce myself! I am Daniel Csutak a 20 year old from Romania.

How did I start eRepublik?
Quite simply, I learned about the game from a friend of mine. At first, I wasn’t too interested in playing because I was too busy, however on the 31st of August I finally registered. My profile can be found here http://www.erepublik.com/ro/citizen/profile/7981895] don’t be afraid to say hello!

What were my first few weeks like?
For the first few weeks, like most players, I completed the missions and started talking to other members of the community. This is how I met Mittekemuis and Schmidt. They became my teachers here in the game and I learned a lot from them. It’s so important to have people like that to help you in the beginning, so you know how to wisely invest your gold and set strong foundations for your future in eRepublik.

My experience with joining a military unit and obtaining medals
The first military unit I joined was UK Paratroopers, however they were rather inactive so I transferred to Funky Militia and I’m glad I did. They are active, funny and a great overall military unit.

The first medal I obtained was for battle hero, after dealing a million damage for the UK against Belgium. I also received 3 other medals for being a True Patriot!

My experience with political parties
The first party I joined was the People’s Communist party, however I found myself not agreeing with their policies so I left to join the UK Reform Party with my mentors Mittekemuis and Schmidt.

I am looking forward to learning more about politics and hopefully soon, I will be more actively contributing.

If you are new to this game, I strongly suggest you look at joining the UK Reform Part or Funky Militia. You will meet some great, knowledgeable and generous players who will help you in your journey into eRepublik.

Long live the Queen!

Best regards
Daniel Csutak von Kazon

Congress elections
Today I opened nominations for congress seat elections. Before you are all eager to candidate yourselves I like to have a few words with you about that.

The elections for congress occur on a monthly basis on the 25th day of each month. For the UK, we usually elect 40 people to congress. The system is proportional representation, which is voting for parties instead of individual candidates. For UK-Reform that comes down to about 4 to 5 congress seats if we go in this election solo with our 5th position. Negotiations with other parties are in progress.

Congress mechanism
The game mechanics sets the deadline for running for congress on the 23rd each month, meaning that attempting to run for congress after that date would be useless. You usually can't apply to run for congress until after the party presidential elections. On the 24th , the party president selects the order in which people can run for congress. Being higher up on the list makes it easier to get into congress.

Party Tradition
Candidates that apply to run for congress in the UK-Reform usually get higher up on the list if they are official candidates. If you wish to run for congress, you can apply in a thread that usually opened on a monthly basis. Selection criteria changes with each PP but usually they revolve around activity and involvement within both the party and the country. Giving newer players a chance to take their first steps in politics is one of our goals. So if you can convince us that you will do a good job you will get a higher ranking on the list.

Powers of Congressmen
Congressmen can propose new laws in-game and can accept citizenships. It is recommended that congressmen don't do anything with their powers immediately, instead making sure they know about the risks of accepting citizenships, particularly from enemy nations. Before proposing a law co-operating with your fellow congressmen would be recommended, both fellow UK-Reform or representatives from other parties. We urge all congressmen representing UK-Reform to not vote YES without a proper discussion on any tax or minimum wage proposals, neither should you vote YES to any MPP or NE not explained by the government.

Yours truly,
