[UK CP] So you wanted TP medals did ya?

Day 2,647, 13:54 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by 10 Downing Street

So time for an overdue update of what’s been happening in government recently; I would’ve liked to write this sooner but I’d rather have more proper content than my first article- I have a fair bit to talk about this time.

Deal with Norway

Having been bombarded for literally two days with 2 endless requests to provide an opportunity for TP damage it arrived in the form of our Co-operation deal with Norway.

I expect you’ll already have seen the full text of this in the MoD newspaper a few days ago, so I won’t repeat the full content of the agreement, if you want to check it out then click here.

I know that some have questioned the 1000cc a day cost of renting the two regions in question from Norway; and it is perhaps possible that we could’ve driven a hard bargain to get a lower financial cost- but that would perhaps miss the point of this deal. It is a major change in our foreign policy, and not one that is financially motivated. It brings to an end the repetitive scraps with Norway, and gives us stable maximum bonuses in the two most important resources- a feat that very few countries in the eWorld can boast. We also now have a source of TP battles on tap, so that we are never going to have to start risky wars just in order that we can fill our TP bars up.

MPPs

I thought it might be an idea to include the day to day Foreign Affairs business in these reports. Since the start of my CP term we have signed 5 MPPs of the 6 that have been up for renewal- with the Bulgaria MPP currently being voted on. The missing MPP is Belgium, who requested that we wait until after they had completed a TW before signing.

Listed is our renewed MPPs:

Italy- Passed 30-0

Venezuela- Passed 30-1

Netherlands- Passed 26-0

Turkey-Passed 26-2

Mexico- Passed 27-0

An expanded system of support for players seeking to upgrade their Training Grounds was launched in the last MoF report, covering both larger training ground loans and loans of up to 20g for 90% training contracts as well. Unfortunately the uptake for these has not been as high as we would’ve hoped, so I would urge any D1 and D2 players who don't already full train to get in touch and see if we can sort something out for you. The repayment period will be determined on a case by case basis, so I’m sure we can sort something out that works.

Outside of this, our financial performances continues to be strong, with the eUK now pulling in around 15,000cc a day in income, up from ~12,000 cc a couple of weeks ago; this gives us a monthly (30 day) income of 450k, which is a world away from the middle of 2014 when we were lucky to pull in 120k over the course of a month.

It’s pretty important in the eUK that we try to bring new players into government roles; for the time that I’ve been playing the game this has been attempted by many by shoving inexperienced players into prominent positions on congress lists, in the hope they will understand more from that experience. For me, that’s not the way to go about things- congress shouldn’t be the beginners place to start.

If a player wants to get involved with politics and running the country, they should first be active within their parties and assuming that this is the case for a fair few, they should then be looking at applying for an apprenticeship in a government ministry; which is what I’m gonna talk a bit about here.

So, every Ministry will be recruiting Apprentices; the idea is that players who want to get involved in the political module (not even necessarily a new player, perhaps a player that has only been involved in an MU and now fancies a crack at helping to run the country) will PM the relevant minister and ask if they can be involved and shown the ropes- for example in Defence this might involve being told the logic behind which battles take Prio, as well as being included in ministry PMs so they can observe the kinda stuff which happens. It’s designed to be a step below being a deputy minister, and a real introduction to that ministry. That side of this program starts immediately; and in truth the vast majority of ministers will always have been happy to show a new guy the ropes if they got in touch.

We will have another couple of aspects to this which should come out in the next few days once I’m able to talk to Rathena a bit more.

Right, that’ll do for tonight.
