[TUP] Congress January 2013

Day 1,892, 00:15 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by The Equalist

The Unity Party has had a long and successful history of responsible and effective government leadership. As we head into another congress election, I encourage you to read through our policies and look at our candidates for this month. Logging in for a couple of minutes and voting TUP this election can make a huge difference for our country’s future.

Military:
We support the creation and continuation of national military units, such as Legion. Considering the progression of wars over the past month, it is more important than ever to have both new and old citizens in MUs to best optimize our damage potential. We also support the inclusion of a rapid response team. Although we believe it is up to the discretion of the MoD as to how this can be achieved in order to find the most efficient and effective way of doing this. Finally, we want to continue the Call To Arms (CTA) as it is, instead of turning it to a lottery system. Some might complain it is expensive, but it is a valuable price to pay in order to defend ourselves from our many allies.

Foreign Affairs:
TUP has had a long history of involvement in alliances, including TWO. We are glad to have the foundations for such movements, and we hope to continue keeping our alliances strong. This means renewing MPPs when they have expired. We cannot afford to ignore our allies, especially in a volatile conflicted world. We also look down upon wasting damage on pointless wars, as it jeopardizes our abilities to protect both our nations and our allies.

Domestics:
TUP encourages governments to make sure that when dealing with government matters, party politics is not intertwined. Another way of looking at this is to hold the government accountable for its actions. These people have been chosen by the people, so the people have a right to know what is going on. We support an increase in government reports, whether it is our legislative or executive branch. Transparency is key, and we are concerned at the current abilities of the government to effectively communicate. This includes the executive section of the government (CP and cabinet) communicationg with Congress and government in general communicating with the public. The forums is a perfect way to enact these communications. It has worked in the past in providing transparency, so it can work again.

Economics:
While tax reductions sound nice, the reality is this causes no noticeable difference to the individual but a largely negative consequence to government services. We must make sure that our services, whether it is the NHS, weapons, or other supply schemes, are funded properly. This also includes the costs of MPPs. We must make sure that the safety and needs of our citizens are met. Making sure we have reasonable monetary supplies is important. Therefore we cannot afford to waste our supplies on those who do not need them. A responsible and effective fiscal policy is important in maintaining a stable nation. We are also fine with the current minimum wage. There is no point in raising it as the markets are already set to higher prices and we need those lower wages for jobs in certain areas to maintain the most cost-efficient production.

Here are our 12 official candidates for January 2013. As started last month, we are continuing our alliance with UKRP. Just like last time, we offered to run three of their candidates in the 4th, 8th, and 12th slots. Unfortunately, one UKRP candidate forgot to candidate, so only two candidates will be running from UKRP.

UPDATE: There are a few changes to the list that need to be made, but this will be sorted out in the coming hours. Regardless, all the candidates that will ultimately be running are all worthy of becoming Congresspeople.

1- yurigavin
Being around eRepublik since 2009, he has experience in foreign affairs and the military. Despite his age, this is his first time running for Congress.

2- Vistulus
Been in eRepublik for around one and a half years, Vistulus has only recently become highly active and is also running for Congress for the first time.

3- jimbojoy
An experienced player who has been in Congress 13 times. Has been associated with both the Ministry of Home Affairs and the military.

4- Madacaion (UKRP)
A two time congressman who has taken an active and vocal role in the eUK government, looking for a third term.

5- deepfriedmarsbar
A 1st time Congressman going for a second consecutive term, hopefully his obsession of deep fried mars bars does not negatively affect his health.

6- Kravenn
Originally from Belgium, Kravenn is one of the most experienced members in the UK Congress, along with being a former President.

7- Gucio
Former Swiss president and current 2nd termUK Congressman.

Been in Congress for three terms, a consistant member of TUP who is always showing his dedication to serving the people.

11- Talon Karrde
A highly experienced citizen who has taken the position of President. Obviously knows what he is doing.

12- The Equalist
Was crazy enough to run for a second term as PP. Why would someone do that?

Good luck to our candidates. We hope we can count on your vote this 25th!
