Greetings eCanada
Just wanted to put together a quick article to let you all know where we are at as a nation.
The CP issue
On Aug 5th the nation elected Wally Cleaver as CP and he got right into the job the day after, securing a TW with ePortugal and allowing all eCanadians to have an opportunity to complete the RW/NE missions for the bonuses they offer. Since then Wally's activity as dropped off, and he's not been heard from for a little while. After a failed impeachment vote that was not properly discussed by congress, Wally remains our CP but is MIA. I do not know what the reason is for Wally's inactivity but many who know him well are of the same opinion: it's not like him to just disappear. With that being said, whatever the reason is, I hope things are okay, I hope to see him back in the game soon and we all wish him well.
Now with such a long absence, the executive members of government have stepped in and have been working hard to make sure the nation still runs smoothly, however getting everything done without our CP has been slightly more difficult and the lines of communication have been slowed down.

Also with such a long absence an impeachment vote is not certain but very likely at this point, so I may end up taking the reigns as your new CP, with that I want to get things off to a good start and keep an open line of communication with you all.
The ePortugal TW
Wally brokered a deal with our neighbors across the Atlantic to help us all get those missions done for the reward the admins offered. That war was scheduled to come to an end today....however the NE vote yesterday that was put up to close this war was rejected by congress. Why would we not vote to close a war that we had, in good faith, agreed with ePortugal to close today you might ask??? Well I don't have the exact answer as I was not one of those congressmen who didn't come onto the forums and find out what was going on, but I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here and assume that the lines of communication were once again slowed and they didn't get the memo.
Well here's the new memo: VOTE NO TO THIS NEW VOTE!! We have just brokered a new deal with ePortugal that should help us in the future, and they have re-proposed us as NE. This time it's not going to screw us up so all the NO voters can be happy to vote this one.
What’s underway as we speak
The current executive has been working on our MPP situation as well as the new budget. Our MoFA has been in contact with our allies and friends keeping in touch during this transition. Our VP has stepped up in forums and has been directing the flow of things until the CP issue is resolved. Your elected officials and the appointed executive are still hard at work making things happen!!
What the future holds
I am a firm believer in having a NE when it's of benefit to eCanada, so we contine to have one and when needed will find one.
War is a great way to promote activity and it's always more fun when we take the fight to someone else, so we will find one.
With eCanada not under imminent threat of invasion/conquering it is time we turn our eyes to our allies and to our bro's and help them in their struggles. We will help them be free.
These will be my goals if I take over the reigns as your CP.

I would like to raise a point, when there's such a "important" vote such a no to NE. Someone should take 5-10 minutes out of the day and message the entirety of congress and inform them of what's going on and to vote no. A congressional whip of sorts since most parties these days fail to bring out the lashings.
Or the Executive could message them. Or Muglack.

I agree and I think as CP (if/when I become CP) that should rest on my shoulders.
As CP the voice of the nation and the communicator between the executive and the elected body of congress would be mine.
In the future I will be the one to ensure that the lines of communication are open.
Having served 2 terms in eUSA congress, i'm accustomed to being being pm'd ingame every time a motion goes to a vote on the forums and or when an unexpected mpp/tax votes/ne vote went up. If a speaker and his deputy can't do that they are lazy and should resign or appoint a Congressional whip to do so on their behalf.. It takes literally 5 minutes with a mass mailer or less.
what about new regions? (swaps, renting, conquests?)
So we as a nation are going to be punished because Congress can't find their ass while sitting on their hands?

Cham- Fight against them if it won't turn the tide of the battle. But unfortunately yes the nation is paying for the congressional mistake..... we must be vigilant in who we elect to the post as they are a pivital part of the game.
Congress have loss a considerable amount of time to amend their congressional rules of order this session. They play with the law but are not even able to make sure that a siple vote ingame can get through.

you're right Max, we took a few days to discuss a change in the rules of order, while doing other things as well. There are consistently 5-10 congress members who show up to discuss issues and who are informed properly when voting. The problem rests with people voting for a 'name' and not a platform. Want to elect 2-clickers to congress, fine, just don't be surprised when shit doesn't get done.

Leo - I don't want to blame active congressmen. The problem is that a NE votes can't be propose with a link to the forum discussion. It isn't the first time that Congress fail to vote as it should be for a NE vote because of this.
Maybe we should consider that a NE proposal require at least that the Speaker r his deputy send a forum PM to all congressmen (easy for him to do,just have to send a group PM)
It would be was more useful that amend something for which we had little problem, like Speaker election or the computation of vote...
