I think your holding grudge against the whole nation for the acts of a few people. I myself came to Canada from the UK, its natural in every country that you get the odd few that are suspicious but holding grudges is a waste of time and gets you nowhere. I went on to become CP of Canada, it just took effort of my behalf to merge into the community and get to know everyone first.

Yes, I had the PTO paranoia, but I'd rather observe the immigrants and let me come to my own conclusions, whether they were contributing members of our society, someone here just for the ride, or someone with malicious intent.
My views of the influx of American immigrants were that they were only a concern, not a threat. Where, the concern was a suspicion of PTO activity, but did not conclude it as such.
