**The OG: Canada's Future Tank Fleet**
Banach
As eloquently explained in the previous issue, the tank will soon become a staple of the Canadian battlefield strategy.
As perhaps the most zealous promoter of an armoured offensive doctrine, I am quite excited to unveil possible tank designs that will end up at the front lines of future wars.
At this point, let me bring up the excerpt that is crucial to remembering:
~~~
Each of the four components in a Tank is responsible for a different spec!
Barrel -> Attack Accuracy (the chance of hitting someone)
Body -> Defence Capability (makes it harder for an enemy to hit you)
Engine -> Durability (how long the weapon will last until you need a new one)
Ammunition -> Damage (just how much pain you inflict to your enemy when you make contact)
Now, remember the Quality levels of companies? Substitute Customization for Quality and watch this:
Customization Level 1 Factory -> 50 Points
Customization Level 2 Factory -> 100 Points
Customization Level 3 Factory -> 150 Points
Customization Level 4 Factory -> 200 Points
Customization Level 5 Factory -> 250 Points (Total)
Remember, each component is maxed out at 100, that means you would technically need 400 CP to fully max out the Tank. With 250, you have to decide yourself what you want to focus on!"
Here are some potential models one can use!
Canadian Heavy Tanks
~800 Model Heavy Tank~
Specs:
Barrel- 45
Body- 70
Engine- 55
Ammo- 80
Strategic Use: Devastates infantry, longer survivability against air opponents, longer lasting during armoured combat, secures areas of flat terrain
~900 Model Super Heavy Tank~
Specs:
Barrel- 35
Body- 80
Engine- 45
Ammo- 90
Strategic Use: One-shot kill on enemy armour, used for either blitz tactics at the beginning to reach the capital or to assault choke points
Canadian Medium Tanks
~800 Model Urban Fighter~
Specs:
Barrel-45
Body- 50
Engine- 75
Ammo- 70
Strategic Use: When the enemy surrounds the capital and begins assaulting it, or perhaps in a decisive battle for a bridge or mountain pass, this tank can successfully bust other medium armour
and hold off all but the most battle hardened infantry.
~900 Model Mass Attack Vehicle~
Specs:
Barrel- 60
Body- 60
Engine- 65
Ammo- 65
Strategic Use: The perfect marriage of defence and offense. The MAV can easily become the Canadian Tank Force's batallion front liner.
Canadian Light Tanks
~800 Model Light Armoured Tank~
Specs:
Barrel- 38
Body- 83
Engine- 84
Ammo- 46
Strategic Use: A balanced tank is mostly good for maneuverability purposes, travelling the field to secure strategic points and able to take out waves of infantry.
~900 Model Light Assault Tank~
Specs:
Barrel- 35
Body- 95
Engine- 85
Ammo- 35
Strategic Use: With a long-lasting design, and a body promoting increased survivability, the LA Tank is best used for people prepared for a long day of fighting and equipped with wellness packs and grenades.
Whatever tank specs are actually used will have to come gradually through battle testing. We might have to go through both the 800 or 900 model (the first digit signifying which group of 100 days it was customized on) to perhaps finally reach a 1000 model that will suit our fighting style.
At the moment, more information would be great that would completely clarify just how the four specifications affect tank performance to be truly able to customize effectively.
As I mentioned in my previous article, as an added bit of creativity and roleplay, we do many things with these new tanks:
1. Make contests for tank fighter banners.
2. Make medals for "tank aces"
3. Name tank models after famous Canadian heroes.
4. Hold contests for Factory Managers who create the best customization of tank (hold a vote!)
5. Train our Canadian Armed Forces to adopt a new branch: Armoured Fighting Force which would be comprised 3/4 of government-sponsored/subsidized/overseen tanks and 1/4 artillery to strictly help guard against helicopters.
The list goes on and on, I am very excited for PvP and tank warfare!
Helo's beat tanks.
Terror from Teh Skies!!!!!!!!!1
Interesting exercise, Banach. It certainly highlights the complex variables we will have.
It also highlights the importance of the CAF communicating with manufacturers to develop the right tanks to meet our needs.
Now, just add the opposition's tank and helicopter configurations to the calculations and we're gonna need a PhD with a Cray supercomputer to plan our battles.
The only problem i have with this models is that if I ddin't screw something up they are all Q5's 😛
1. Artillery beats helis Tyler. Watch them fall out of the sky while our tanks storm through.
2. That's right, it will be interesting to plan! We will need to hire people to work for the gov't an analyze these specs on a monthly level
3. Who the fu&% makes anything less than Q5 😛 I sure as hell am drivin only a Q5 tank or nothin 😛
The thing about v2 that I really like is that now there is a major MARKETING component to the eRep marketplace. All products are NOT the same.
Yes, I love that part!
All products are made of different components, with different specs, made by different workers.
EXCELLENT
RL History shows that Medium tanks (Q3) can out power Well built Heavy Tanks (Q5), WW2 is a Great example. Since USA was able to Mass produce Medium Tanks at a low prices, the sheer amount of Medium tanks overwhelmed the German Tiger Tanks.
But the question is, can Medium tanks be mass produced for a Lower price then Heavy tanks just as they were in RL WW2?
Of course they can, the fact is, it takes 390 GOLD to start up a Heavy Tank factory, but only 90 Gold to start up a medium tank factory, that’s less then a quarter of the price.
So it would even be reasonable to produce 3 Q3 Tanks that equal in power to one Q5 Tank, but its even better then that! 2 Q3 Tanks can Overpower one q5 Tanks.
Of course it matters how the Customization points are distributed, however what matters most is that two Q3 Tanks have a total of 300 Customization points while one Q5 Tank has 250.
One may even argue that 3 Light Tanks (Q2) are better then one Q5 Tank, as it takes only 40 Gold to make a Light Tank factory.
All I know there are a lot of factors to look at before we blindly jump into Q5 Tank Production.
What are gift companies supposed to turn into?
Jacobo, that's an interesting argument. But if we nationalize the tank factories, it will be irrelevant how much the start up rate is since we will work for low wages and make triple what other nations can.
You have to understand that its not about cumulative values, but individual values. In PvP fighting, you don't do group battles. You do 1v1.
My Q5 tank with 250 points worth will kick the ass of your Q3 tank with 150.
Understand the PvP Concept?
Now, since you are dead from one hit kill (I maxed out the damage), I welcome you to use that second Q3 tank tomorrow.
Cheers for the post though, its an interesting perspective
I'm not exactly sure Tyler, admins mentioned they will turn it into something - not sure what. Perhaps anything we want?
"What are gift companies supposed to turn into?"
Wouldn't they be theatre tickets?
If I read the insider correctly, I am certain that two tanks can attack the same target, but one tank cant attack two at the same time.
If this wasnt the case, what would be the point of capturing choke points?
The admin wrote that capturing choke points (Such as Valleys and Forest trails) so it would make sense for Two tanks to sit at the mouth of a Forest Trail (Assuming the mouth is 2x2 Hexagons) and fire at lined up tanks.
Worth the price of admission?
I am still not convinced that a specialized army is the way to go. A smaller force, of helicopters could decimate just about the whole army. Yes, you now want artillery to protect against helicopters, but how do you guarantee that there will not be more helicopters than the artillery that is online at the time, can handle?
Also, are we sure that the war module is going to resolve all PVP combats with a simultaneous attack on each other?
If it's turn based, then give me a weapon with 100 accuracy, 0 defence, 50 durability and 100 damage please, I'll win.
Then, since we get to select which weapon we want to use, for my last attack, I'll switch and use my 50 accuracy, 100 defence, 50 durability, 50 damage weapon, to eat the counterattacks.
Goran Thrax
That's exactly what I was thinking, Goran Thrax.
CAF is going to need an inventory of a variety of special-purpose weapons to issue to fighters depending on terrain, attack vs. defense, enemy resources, etc. Using the wrong equipment for the job will just waste resources and lose battles.
Then the surviving big-ticket weapons will need to be returned for redistribution later. I suppose cheap generic or limited-use weapons can remain with the individuals.
This will present an interesting logistical challenge, on top of battle planning.
Yup.
We better work on our poker faces.
Show me your poker faces!
I'm still planning to go into artillery.
Personally I will be putting everything I have into tanks and I will be rolling down the battlefield in my tanks. My opinion is that the CAF should have branches for each specialization but we have more tanks than anything else.
Like I said on the forums.
Our CAF should go 3/4 Tank, 1/4 Arty
Our Private Armies should do whatever the hell they are best at and use whatever they will be most effective with.
Our citizens and militia should use strictly artillery or rifles.
No helicopters, those are rubbish.
And so King Amadeus I has spoken.
Screw conventions, I'm an an Art(illery)ist
So, what's the best?
Rock, Paper or Scissors?
Rock of course.
TFD - Gift companies turn into Tank or Heli companies, while weapon companies turn into art or rifle companies. I believe that it's your choice between two different companies. [The admins *did* say that the investment put into the diamond and gifting industry would all be converted.]
"Our CAF should go 3/4 Tank, 1/4 Arty"
you gotta be kidding me lol, once your arty is down, a helicopter fleet half the size of your tank fleet will stop you dead.
balance is key.
