***The Development of War Tactics, Age of V1***
Uncle Sam
We have seen much in this world. We have seen political takeovers in various countries, we have seen companies grow and fall. Just the same, we have seen many battles and wars in our history. One of my favorite pass times is to study the tactics used in battles. I have once brought my research to the community through The Development of War Tactics, a most famous article quoted around the world. The time has come for me to update this with an epic sequel. Our research left off at the close of war in BETA, so it begins now at the turn of an era in erepublik, the transition into the age of V1.
Resistance Wars Across the World
With the transition into V1, wars changed a lot. It had been a full two months since any country was able to see a war. When V1 was released, Resistance wars were available for anyone with the funding to start. They started springing up everywhere revealing the new format of war. Yes, the infamous wall was a disappointment as the player vs. player element was removed. So war started out slowly and our first tactic was developed rather apathetically. This tactic is known as Population Combat
Developed early on because in the resistance wars there wasn't much organization, Population Combat was used just by average citizens attacking the wall, unorganized and at any random time. Attacks on a wall do damage and depending on which side does more damage by the end usually wins. There are other ways to go about doing this, but population combat serves as a base for all wars and battles in V1 as it is present in every conflict.
Conquest Wars Begin
Many conquest wars sprung up as soon as it was available, but battles didn't actually start for quite a while. The first battles that actually started were the ones in Spain and Portugal. Since it was an actual war, new tactics were introduced, something easily expected from a conquest war. This new tactic is a Military Strike.
The Military Strike, introduced to do a lot more damage on the wall than population combat. This tactic would organize a country's military and army, supply them with weapons and move a good portion of them to the region with the highest quality hospital. Much more effective, this tactic works best with the active countries as it takes a lot of organization, yet not that much money.
Fighting on the Next Level
Shortly after Spain and Portugal fought it out for a few good battles, wars in France started springing up from many different sides. These battles consisted mostly of military strikes, however required use of another tactics that was already in the making. Probably the most famous tactic of our current times is that of Tanking
Tanking is very effective, and here's how it compared with a military strike. Tanking is more expensive as it costs a lot of gold, yet requires a lot more organization to pull off. Tanking is done by hiring the highest strength and ranked soldiers from around the world. The government of a country usually pays them in gold to fight. That gold is used to buy wellness packs. Using a decoder these "Tanks" fight over and over again at 100 wellness with the best supplies do to maximum amount of damage. Now that Tanking is understood, the next type of war tactics go into the finer details of a battle, using a combination of military strikes and tanking.
Immediate Bombardment: This tactic, used very well by Italy, used military strikes or tanking in the very beginning of a battle. This brings the damage on a wall either up very high or very low, depending on what side is using it. Once the deficit is large enough, they settle down and save money. The large amount of damage done to the wall is supposed to hurt the opponents morale and stops them from fighting, knowing there is little hope to win. It also makes the opponents decide whether or not they want to spend money on getting the into a position of their favor. In the past, this tactic has proved very useful and effective, only to be thwarted a couple times by the following tactic.
Last Minute Rush: A tactic that flowed over from the BETA period, a last minute attack in a battle is something that almost always happens in war. Usually done with Tanking to provide maximum effect, each side will send in as many troops in the last hour or so of a battle. This would be done to get a last minute win, hopefully catching the opponent off guard.
Presidential War Tactics
All through V1, we have seen that Presidents hold a big part in the timing of battles and war tactics. There are two major parts of their contributions to the war tactics that we've seen so far in the wars across the world. The first is a Time Zone Tactic and the second a Coordination Tactic. Both have been used differently and in sometimes together to gain advantage in wars.
The Time Zone Tactic was used well by Indonesia. When attacking Argentina, they started their battle when their time was mid afternoon and Argentina's was in the middle of the night. This gave Indonesia two chances at peak hour for fighting and military strikes. This tactic is used mostly for the attacking country to take advantage of peak times for fighting in their country where citizens are online the most and more active.
The Coordination Tactic was used both in Argentina as well as France. This kind of tactic was also seen back in BETA when Italy and France attacked Switzerland together. The coordination tactic is used to that allies may fight together against one country while on the offensive. In France, the USA, UK, Canada, Sweden and Spain all had active wars raging on and all coordinated their attacks together to divide French support. In Argentina, Brazil and Indonesia did the same thing at different time intervals.
With all wars of the world currently at a stand still, I finish this updated version of war tactics for the age of V1. May many generations to come learn from this and the article that came before it.

Interesting article indeed.
All these tactics were used over and over again but I never thought of actually naming them 😛
nice job.
I didn't know this before, thanks. 🙂
You forgot the most efficient tactic: couping nations. It's cheap although it demands some amount of organization, but the rewards are greater than what can be achieved by normal warfare. One couped nation equals one immediately annexed country.
Also, I see you didn't pay attention to the media war. Disturbing enemy communications, especially of countries that are slow to act, can be very efficient way of making the enemy fight for you. This was used rather efficiently in the German liberation war few days ago. I am still waiting for the moment when media war is taken on the next level by spamming the top news and international section with articles, so that the enemy cannot inform its troops efficiently.
first, leave political crap out of it, it's not a war tactic in terms of a direct conflict. This focuses on the military aspect of war tactics, not political or media tactics.
Very good article 🙂

Couping and media wars are war tactics. Unorthodox methods, but tactics that can and have been used during wars nevertheless. Surely they deserve a special mention.
Just a suggestion:
The process of using MPPs is now an offensive tactic. When the UK attacked france. France were able to use their MPPs to attack Belgium (when it was under UK control. The fact that you can have the entirety of PEACE (or atlantis if the roles are reversed) attacking from their own homeland against one nation is a devastaing tactic.
