Author's Note: I dedicate this article to my love GLaDOS and all of the beautiful lovers of pie in this eWorld. I hope you enjoy.

As I was two-clicking my way through the week, I was taken aback by the sight of really lame birthday cake. That's when I realized it was eRepublik's second birthday, and I was completely and utterly shocked. Why? Firstly, I could hardly believe that this game has made it to two years. Back when I started, I figured it would be game over in a very short amount of time, but the admins have crafted some very crazy mechanics and introduced enough small countries to make this game rather interesting on a sporadic basis. Secondly, the city exploding with fireworks and the party hat were nice touches that added some flair to a normally rather boring top of the site. But most of all, I was SHOCKED to see cake in MY freaking inventory.

This is not to say that I am opposed to birthday parties, but it is that I am averse to birthday cake. As many of you know, I am a staunch supporter of pie. IRL, I go out of my way to have a birthday pie instead of a birthday cake. For my 26th birthday, I had a personal sized blueberry pie. It was amazing and delicious.

I realize that for most of you these shocking and disturbing images are bringing about some strong feelings linked to a debate many have long wished to forget: cake vs. pie. For much of the course of my career here in eRepublik, I have been blessed to belong to a party that values pie. Sitting in the UIP chat, we briefly brainstormed some ideas as to why pie is greater than cake, and here it goes:

1) Pie can have any filling you want.
2) More of the pie consists of the filling--not a bunch of fluffy cake filler.
3) Flaky pastry style or cookie/graham cracker crusts are pure delicious heaven.
4) Pie can be nutritional, as it can contain fruit. (Not to be confused with fruits like Kazeal.)
5) Cheesecake (quite possibly the best dessert on Earth) is actually a form of pie.
6) To create a pastry style pie crust, you get to use a rolling pin, which is really fun.
7) Pie = Pi.

This list is nowhere near exhaustive, but it is a start to reopening that great debate that divides cake and pie lovers all year long. Feel free to debate this in the comments section, as I love an amazing cake vs pie debate. Hopefully, the debate rages on until next year, when I will sign in and hope to be greeted by some tasty birthday pie.

Or at least something we can all get behind...like a birthday cookie.

Happy Birthday eRepublik...and thanks for bringing back up the debate of cake vs. pie.

Kisses,
