[TDK] The White House goes Dark? On taxes and such.

Day 2,858, 17:44 Published in USA Pakistan by Nastoor

Citizens of the eUSA,

The work tax is at 15%.

tl;dr: There's pros and cons to a high Work Tax. Be decisive on this and don't let the conversation die out.

Judging is preventing us from understanding a new truth. Free yourself from the rules of old judgments and create the space for new understanding.

There has been, in the past, much ado about high work taxes. To some it's an abomination, to some it's the greatest gift to America from the higher forces.

The conversation seems to have died out, and I think it's in everyone's best interests to keep it going.

B-b-but we need the Work Tax. It saves us from foreign occupation.

Indeed.

But here's a few things you should keep in mind, before accepting this.

1- At what cost?

1- People with companies(read Tax revenue) don't move to the eUSA. This is revenue/assets which come to us at no cost. This is a win-win for us in all aspects. It's better than having a new player join the game. You don't have to teach them anything, they start giving you tax revenue from day 1, and it's a gain for eUSA and a deduction from other countries.

2- People with companies start to leave the eUSA. We lose tank damage as well as tax revenue. In case you think foreign tank damage is not a big contributor to the eUS damage:

Even American players begin to leave to other countries where there are greener pastures. Additionally, click here if you're interested in checking out how much profit you make with each company. And by clicking here, you can access another great profit calculator tool.

Disclaimer: I don't think it should matter what any player's RL nationality is as long as they're loyal eAmericans, but it is for the sake of discussion and argument that I mentioned it.

3- People become unhappy. Political rifts and internal conflicts, instead of external ones.

The following is company profitability with 15% Work Tax.

Weapon raw companies:

Food raw materials:

House raw materials:

As you can see, you can't WAM in house raw material companies.

Food companies:

Food companies without any employees.

Food companies with maximum number of employees allowed.

Weapon companies:

Weapon companies without any employees.

Weapon companies with full employees

Housing companies with full employees

The following is company profitability with 5% Work Tax.

Weapon raw:

Food raw:

House raw is the same

Food companies:

With no employees

2- Who will attack us?
Keep in mind, this was a rhetorical question, and there's a reason for this. The eUSA hasn't been attacked since last year on 9/11. If you don't consider that a serious attack, which you shouldn't, when was actually the last time we got attacked?
There are no immediate threats, we aren't cornered and surrounded by enemy nations. No country in our vicinity can NE us.

Russia = ally
Mexico = not strong enough to attack us + occupied by Argies
Canada = we share the same allies
Cuba = not strong enough to attack us
Spain = if they attack us, the retaliation on them would be immense + too busy with Frenchies, Portuguese and Colombians

There are no rumors worth a dime about potential attacks on us, not now, not in the past year, or two years.

There was a threat of a Thai attack, along with a Croatian attack.

zdlemmy: but definitly i will not start as on usa,
And a few Thais said similar things as well.

We have been paranoid of attacks since a long time, and no serious one has come yet. We've suffered due to 'potential' attacks. And it's the people who predict and are paranoid of these 'potential' attacks who have no idea what is going on in the rest of the eWorld. But that's not your fault.

But let's say for a second that we do get attacked.

1- What makes you think our current reserves are not enough to fight these attacks? Buying currency has become so cheap, ty Plato, that now we can probably double our reserves by not spending too much RL $. Adding to that, many eAmericans have stashed a lot of money in their accounts, farming since a long time. We have a stable defense, strong/rich players, and probably the largest reserves in the game.
2- What makes you think our allies will not come to our defense? The last time a potential AS was announced, I personally contacted many of my friends in allied nations, and not only did they guarantee full support, they also said their countries would get directly involved to help us out.
3- What makes you think if our current reserves are not enough, a Work Tax increase will keep us safe?

3- Does it actually guarantee us safety?

Now for a moment, let's say that we continue to have 15% work tax, and keep on increasing our reserves. If there is an attack which manages to slash our reserves and cut through our defense, would adding a few more million to this budget guarantee us safety?
Do you know what happens to countries who don't help their allies and instead just amass money? Look at China and Poland. Their reserves helped them eventually repel an attack by Chile, Turkey and Croatia. But their country died out. They were making $100,000+ in taxes daily before the attacks, and around $15,000 after the attacks. Players with companies left, and now they're weak and vulnerable.

There is no need to increase the reserves on a full throttle mode, we could cut back on some useless expenses, decrease the work tax, let the nation thrive.

We'd have to go back and evaluate our expenses. What is proper and actually useful, what is improper and does more harm than benefit, and we'd have to see it all through an objective lens.

Keep in mind, when the eUSA does get attacked, it is going to be the large tanks and the companies owners who will be our first line of defense.
I say, we let the chips fall where they may. Keep the discussions going, don't let them die out. I saw a post on the forums today about this issue, and I was glad to see it.

Pros -
Relatively higher safety, but doesn't guarantee protection

Cons -
People leave country, immigration etc.
More people who are valuable don't immigrate here
Monetary losses in companies
Unhappy people

What are you worried about?

The White House won't go Dark. ^_~
