[TCM] A Different Kind of Party

Day 1,225, 14:13 Published in Australia Australia by Australian Communist Party

The political parties of eAustralia are in a race for the political centre. The centre is the jewel in the crown of politics, and any mathematician will quickly show you proof that if your goal is to capture the most public support possible you should move toward the centre. Like the centre of a bell-curve it holds the greatest volume of votes and is therefore the target of every political party whose goal is political power.

No thanks, life is too short

This is equally true in real life and in-game. The distinctions between the main political parties in real-life Australia grow more and more minute. It comes down to minor differentiation on otherwise identical policies and vague arguments about the politics of personality, meaningless jingoisms and sound-bites selected by focus group; ideology is the enemy of the politician seeking election.

"The idea that you can merchandise candidates for high office like breakfast cereal - that you can gather votes like box tops - is, I think, the ultimate indignity to the democratic process."
Adlai E. Stevenson

Most of us in eAustralia are happy to follow the script. Look at the top 4 parties, centre-right, centre, centre-left, centre. Well not this little, black duck. I want more from my party than a mad dash for the most popular slogan. I don't want a creamy, soft centre full of sugary ad-agency delights. Don't give me a skim latte and a friendly greeting, I prefer a double espresso and a slap in the face.

We are born into this eWorld with nought but a small citizen fee and a twinkle in the eye. We leave it with a few memories that quickly fade. I won't play the game as a parody of the dullness and disingenuous twaddle of real-life politics. I want something different, something revolutionary, something radical.

"A conservative is one who admires radicals centuries after they're dead."
Leo Rosten

That's why I joined the Australian Communist Party. The ACP presents a radical approach to the game. We're not planning to be the biggest party in eAustralia, nor are we trying to gain power through a majority in congress. We just want to be the best party, and to evoke a style of gameplay that is different and unique.

If you believe the prevailing economic system is all about converting your productive capacity into profits for players who are already rich, if you believe the political and social establishment is all about concentration of power in the hands of a few and keeping it there, if you believe the community lacks a sense of social justice and egalitarianism, if you believe the inherently capitalist game mechanics are a nice set of rules to bend and manipulate, then you are not alone. We're looking for committed citizens to join the struggle and create a revolutionary society based on principles of social justice; liberty, egality and fraternity. Don't let your eLife pass you by in the dreary monotony of treadmill conformity, always walking but going nowhere. Life is more fun when you take the revolutionary road.

"We have not made the Revolution, the Revolution has made us."
Georg Buchner

Why don't you join us? PM Party President Hinokai or myself, Chris Carnage, if you have any questions.
