[SVK] War in the Czech Republic
Rangeley
In the midst of the war in Austria, another war against a small nation opened abruptly and without warning, as Poland launched a full out invasion of the Czech Republic. The Czech government had not been alerted to any reasoning prior - and the citizens of the nation similarly had no warning. "We certainly didn't expect this from our ally," said Carmen Polo, their Minister of Finance. "[We were] frantically asking around to find out what was going on. Then [we were angry when] we heard from our president that this was not part of any secret land swaps that involved the Czech government." Instead, it was later explained as a way to "merge" the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with Poland conquering the Czech regions first, and then Slovakia moving to take them after.
Though discussion had taken place last month between the two countries to merge, it had stalled with the election of John Locked on February 5th, as he - and other Czechs - wanted to slow the process down for more consideration. "When we started discussing the merger I was enthusiastic. It is in principle a good idea," Polo continued. "But we needed to work it out, and we needed to prepare the ground - all neighboring countries would need to respect the union if it was to work. We saw what happened to the United Netherlands when EDEN didn't respect that union."
This fear - that the Czech Republic could become the next Belgium - looms large as they currently have no regions heading into the congressional elections. If no new congress is able to be elected, all citizenship requests in a recreated Czech Republic would be automatically accepted, making it completely vulnerable to competing TO forces. President Locked recognizes this fear, stating "at this time we are fighting in the war of resistance, with the help of [allied forces]."
Another reason for the attack is strongly suspected to have been to allow Croatia - a fellow EDEN nation - a route out of Austria. However, due to blocks, a resistance war which temporarily put the Czech Republic back on the map, and the eventual expulsion of Croatia from Austrian territory, this did not come to pass.
As for the Czech Republic itself, while some have come to accept the current merger, Polo has a simple desire. "I'd like to see us recover our territories and population," she said. "Then I'd like to see our country flourish. If people want to continue to discuss union, I'll support it - but we must have the recognition and support of our neighbors first and an agreement that is hammered out between Czech Republic and Slovakia as equals."

"I'd like to see us recover our territories and population,"
Us? How pTOer who can't even speack Czech dare to say "US"? Most of real Czech citizens went to Slovakia and fought GREEN today against pTOers RW. Please do not spread lies like these and don't support foreign "governement" of eCzech Republik. Listen true Czechs. Not pTO propaganda. I'm very disappointed with your article :/
OPEN your eyes, Rangley, please!
So the Polish President (smrtan) says what real Czech do?
How dare YOU say "us", smrtan?

I'm American but I don't claim to be eCzech.
Astra Kat G: show me where I said "us". I said "Czech People".
Re: smrtan
Hungary used the same argument against Slovakia to justify their invasion during your presidency of Slovakia, and it was no more true then. Just because you live in a different country does not make you a PTO.
This merger was rushed, and it will leave the Czech Republic especially vulnerable to a real PTO by competing forces from EDEN and PHX just as Belgium was. This would be the case with any merger, in my opinion, but the way in which this was done in particular makes that sort of problem inevitable. You can't merge two countries together and expect it to stick when only one party is consenting.
There is a little difference: these people weren't accepted by real Czechs. And they don't speak Czech at all...
Nuž pravdepodobne by bolo vhodné tu diskutovať o tom, čo si myslia Česi a Slováci o spoločnom pôsobení v eRep svete. Potom samozrejme zoberieme do úvahy aj názory imigrantov.
just use google translator.
There are plenty of news in czech language, which like czechoslovakia.
There are plenty of news in eng lang. which like Czechia.
Why foreingers and PTOs know better what is good for Czechs then RL czechs. ??
Use your brain and answer yourself 🙂
This is a very one sided article...
proste česi a slováci vedia čo chcú a je jedno čo budú lovci medaili a zlodeji statneho goldu hovorit !
Nenecháme si vziať niečo, čo začína fungovať na plné obrátky za podpory oboch národov! Česi a Slováci sa zjednocujú, to je fakt, a ten nám nik nevezme!
Rangeley, this is one sided article, I would expect you at least contact me or some other member of United CzechoSlovak government. No vote.
re: smrtan
Just because you can't speak the language doesn't make you a PTO either. The problem this article is attempting to highlight is that the merger was done in an abrupt way that was bound to cause problems - on top of the problems that would be faced even in the most peacefully agreed upon mergers. As shown in South Korea and Belgium, forces who truly are PTO's and care nothing for the eCountry can move in, RW regions back onto the map, and claim citizenship with no restraints.
Having Poland put this merger into action without Slovakia or the Czech Republic even knowing it was happening was one of the worst possible ways to put this in action, with one of the greatest likelihoods to turn the Czech Republic into an unfortunate battleground of competing PTO forces.
This isn't me being "one sided," its the reality everyone will be facing if the Czech Republic is unable to elect a congress - which now looks impossible.
Re: gabberattack
I did contact you when the invasion first happened and I don't believe anything in this article contradicts what we talked about. Noone in the Czech government knew it was going to happen, noone in Slovakia knew it was going to happen. In the aftermath, some have come to accept the merger as is, others have not. But regardless of which camp you fall into, the Czech Republic will now very likely be a battleground, and this is not helped at all by the existence of sore feelings over the way in which the merger was carried out.
Rangeley, the reasons have clarified since then. It is more clear that PTO was already done in Czech republic and current government was focused more on getting state money from country budget than helping eCZ to grow. All articles from Czech government are in English, RL Czechs were emigrating from their country. Merge was proposed by president Vit Ruzicka before his term was over and the plan for unification was finalized with the proposal that Czech republic will conquer Slovakia. We gave up the idea of independent country in order to create CzechoSlovakia. BUT all the deals agreed by last Czech government were ignored by the current one. They did not want anybody else to control their strange business. I have exchanged several PMs, negotiated with several Czech government members and all promises given by previous government were broken - there was not a single person willing to finalize the deal. So after Czech National Bank was mysteriously cleared out of all resources and government was silent about where the money is the PTO suspicion increased. All my suggestions to start unification were negated by the other party. So we have decided to take an opportunity in Polish invasion and finish the unification the opposite way than was suggested. The MPP with Hungary and new state party logo showed that current Czech government is Phoenix friendly and wants to change the neutrality of the Czech republic. The same happened to Austria - you should know the best Rangeley. What have you sold your neutrality for? Is Burgenland the price you paid for the assistance? Slovakia wanted to help you save your neutral status, but cooperation with one of the two major alliances is showing that your neutrality is gone for good. 🙁
Look Rangeley czech citizens support this idea and that's enough for us- In czechoslovak legion we have 15 inone day- half of them are czech.
It's big difference between what we and what hungarians did- because we have support od common citizens- they fought on our (czechoslovak side)...
this is PTO:
bad foreginers are happy and in government
good home inhabitants are angry and not in government
this is Czechoslovakia
bad foreigners are angry and not in government
good domestic CZ+SK + good foreigners are happy and in government
CAN YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE ???
bad foreigners - good foreigners.
U r a think-tank, Rumpil. 😃
bad foreigners - people who want just medails and are able for medails or state gold or simple Phoenix war purposes destroy whole country
good foreigners - people who want to help to smaller countries, but with all respect to origin population
And yes, I am a big SLOVAK tank 😃
And how can u tell if a foreigner is bad?
Oh, sry, I forgot: if u like him, he's good, if not, well...
Yes, u r a big slovak tank. But u see, even u didn't call urself a czechoslovak tank... 😛
That should make u think about things.
I bet it won't, though. 🙂
