[STATE] Interview with the Colonel

Day 2,802, 12:16 Published in USA USA by Department of State

Welcome to the interview with the President of Slovenia, Colonel Bruce! As you may know, Slovenia was a big part of the coalition to oust Chile from Europe. The interview took place during the last leg of the campaign, so Colonel Bruce had to fit me in between his strategizing sessions and couldn't do it on IRC. My thanks to you for the great interview, Col. Bruce!

Hey, Bruce! Thanks for agreeing to this interview. Let's start with the basics. What can you tell me about yourself IRL? What is your job and do you have any hobbies? Perhaps share your age and location if you're comfortable with that.

I am 35 years old, obviously RL Slovenian, married, and I have one 3-year-old kid. I am working in transportation, I am a passionate fisherman, and a huge fan of ski jumping.
I live in Maribor, so I am a fan of the soccer club NK Maribor as well.

What are some cool places you have been in the world? It can be outside Slovenia or inside. Also, have you ever been to the USA?

I’ve been in every country in Europe (I am working in transportation), but I dream to go to the US as soon as possible. My favorite locations I want to visit are Hawaii, New York, and Florida... also I want to go fishing once in my life in the Great Lakes in the Chicago area, and perhaps Canada...North America has great fishing spots.

Teach me about Slovenia. What are the country's national interests (like sports)? What is the weather like? What kind of food do you eat? You can share anything you want and as much as you want. In school, I never learned about Slovenia so tell me everything! (I had to look on the map to see exactly where it was…. 🙁)

The climate in Slovenia is similar to the US. In the winter, we have snow and in the summer we have heat; we have been boiling for 3 weeks now.
God, we have our own traditions and they’re all very good. With regard to food, I like to enjoy a pork roast with roasted potatoes, perhaps grilled trout and buttered potatoes.
Slovenia is a small country, yet we have it all, except for a desert.
We are a big sport nations; we have achieved many great accomplishments given that our population is just over 2 million.

Come on, some of you need this map too :/

Okay, real life was fun, but let's finally talk about the important stuff: eRepublik! What do eSlovenian players care about? Tell me some things about your eNation. Possible topics are your MUs, alliances, politics, economy, or whatever you want.

Slovenia has been politically united for a long period of time. I like it, because we used to have many arguments a few years ago, but now, we resolve our internal issues with no great difficulties.
The military is very strong in D4, especially considering that we have a small population. We always help our allies, and I think we are respected for it worldwide.
We have recently obtained good resource bonuses at the last bonus event, so now all our citizens have come home, and we also give citizenship to our friends.
All this makes our income considerably large, so we can now afford to forge wars with nations like Chile and beat them.

I know you are in Asteria. What can you tell me about this alliance? eUS citizens don't know much about the inner-workings of a large alliance like Asteria or even Pacifica. What does it mean to a part of Asteria? What is the communication between members like?

Asteria is like my child; I was present when we created it and I have been SG and DSG many times, so I look at it with pride, and I will give anything so that it stays alive for a long time!
We had difficulties when Hungary left Asteria; I tried very much to get them back -- I tried for a long time -- but sadly it didn't happen.
We later accepted Brazil, which proved to be an excellent move, since Brazilian people are like a machine, working hard to coordinate with good communication!
Now we will perhaps invite Portugal. So considering that we are functioning very well right now, I am excited to see what we will do next.

eUSA has been trying to attack Chile for a couple days! What can you tell us about this war with Chile where Slovenia has been doing a lot of the direct warring? Colombia, Poland, USA and now Brazil have also been involved. Is there a specific agenda after you finish Chile? Of course, this is your eighth(!!!) term as CP. What are your goals for eSlovenia this month?

Before Chile came to Europe, we had multiple training wars, helping our citizens to acquire as much money as possible. We would have continued with that, but then they came, and from our past experience we know what it means if Chile comes. The last time they came, they wiped Slovenia twice and many of our friends, including great Serbia.
That is why we decided to act at once; we closed our TWs and immediately started preparing for the attack on Chille.
I asked Poland to to help Slovenia, and they did. I am very grateful for their great sacrifice, with our help they drained Chile so much that it was possible for Slovenia to start attacking and take their occupied lands, region after region.
Also, I asked Colombia and Brazil to help; they flew to Europe and did their part. And also USA came and helped with the plan.
This was (still is at this moment) a joint operation; everybody did their part and nations that took part in this great operation improved bonds, which makes me very happy!

Last question: do you have any words to offer the eUS people?

I respect the military and politics of RL US. I am one of those who believe that the role of world cop is ok, because if not, there would be many more horrors around the globe. I respect what USA does in that regard, but mostly in the Second World War (which is by the way my hobby, I know a lot of historic data from that time period).
I am also addicted to TV series from the US, so I am familiar with many traditions, landscapes, and the history of the USA, so you people have my respect.
