[Speaker] Congress : Our debates and some informations

Day 2,121, 08:37 Published in United Kingdom Greece by Kravenn

Almost 10 days that I took speaker job and it is time to inform UK Population about congress work.

Even it is independent from our job. 5 days ago, our population elected the 55th prime minister. After an intense race : WookieO received 10 downing street’s keys from Carlini8. We have a new prime minister and also a new cabinet (full composition here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-euk-cp-wook-has-arrived--2316267/1/20 )

About congress, and unlike last months : There was an activity increase on the forum (and it was one of my goals). Several debates were launched there and our congress members are quite active there.

I won’t talk here about everything because several things need to remain sensitive (and I know that some of our enemies can read this article). Main talks were about a legislation for immigration (to avoid a political take-over). This is a long term talk because several options are currently on table and we aren’t agree on everything. It is also a congress charm : We are coming from different parties, we have different opinions and whatever your experience : we need to find a common position to solve issues.

Another main debate was about Belgian Natural enemy law. For those who ignored it : we always had a good relation with our southern neighbor.

However, we learnt that they prepared an airstrike on a TWO country (not mentioned). We just know that it wasn’t UK or Poland (because you can’t launch an Airstrike on a country where you have borders). We looked after the potential target and we discovered that they planned to attack our Slovenian friends and by the same way help Croatia, France and Italy (who have good relations with CoT).

We had to make a choice. Do we needed to close our eyes and allow them to annoy one of our closest allies, or we try to help members of our alliance ? Even if they didn’t had enough food for an airstrike, they could continue to work on it against another TWO or ACT member (by example Lithuania who had several fronts to manage).
The only issue to invade Belgium was their defence shield. On the recent contest, they won a Q6 one (8000000000 damages) coupled with 3 original regions. It means that their shield is quite strong and before try to have at least one of their regions : we need to break it.

Despite that : it was decided to do something against Belgium, not because we have something against them, just because we want to protect our friends. Congress took in consideration that we shouldn’t be able to break their shield on the first battle and decided to launch a Natural Enemy law.

That Natural Enemy law was accepted with 24 YES and 4 NO. Even if UK hasn’t yet caught a Belgian region. We (UK and our allies) removed around 50% of their shield.

Time to make a small summary from in game laws

Our congress renewed the following MPPs

- Colombia (39 YES - 2 NO)
- Serbia (35 YES - 4 NO)
- Slovenia (37 YES - 0 NO)
- Romania (34 YES - 0 NO)
- Argentina (27 YES - 4 NO)

Congress rejected Germany as Natural Enemy (5 YES - 28 NO).

That law was mainly launched following several CoT countries decided to invade Lithuania. Our allies already had a Finnish front and Bulgaria decided to have an Airstrike on their regions. On the same time : German and Danish congress decided to propose Lithuania as Natural enemy. Our proposal was to put pressure on Germany but after they decided to not open a front with Lithuania. we had no reason to open a war with them.

Like explained earlier : our congress chose Belgium as Natural Enemy (24 YES - 4 NO)

Two things before finish this congress news :

- We were 40 to be elected to congress, we are 39 now. NT Games decided to resign and move to Ireland (where he received citizenship).
- I talked with our current prime minister about a Prime minister’s Questions. WookieO agreed to have one. However, it won't be during the 10 first days of his term (nothing before September 16). If you have something to ask him, feel free to prepare your questions. More infos soon.

That’s all for now

See Ya,
Kravenn
Speaker of the House of Commons
