Stancel for President of Austria - February 2010

People of Austria, I officially announce my candidacy as the nominee of the Socialist Party for President of Austria. When I first came to Austria many months ago, I was new to the scene.

But soon after I arrived, I began promoting ideas. New ideas. And while some of my ideas were subject to harsh criticism, at least there was a discussion, new lines of debate opening up that allowed Austria to grow.

My past experience includes:

- Being twice elected to Congress in Austria
- Minister of Health under former President Rangeley
- Party President of the Socialist Party from November 2009 to the present
- A prominent member of the Austrian community

In Austria we have a situation where our forums aren't that active, where we rarely have MPPs, and not enough progress is made in general. I want to address a few things I hope to get done while holding the executive office of our country.

*The Economy*
The most important issue are those issues relating to the budget and the economy. If elected, I will increase the role of the Austrian Central Bank in the economy, opening up some actively managed state-owned companies. I will also see to it that the issue of the Monetary Market's high prices for gold is fixed.

We need to think carefully about tax changes and not rush into them without thinking about how they will effect the economy. We don't need high import taxes on industries where there is a lack of efficient production, for example.

*Infrastructure*
I will make sure a hospital is put in Lower Austria. One hospital for our country is not enough. Especially since 125 people reside in Lower Austria, making it the second most populated region, where 17% of people in Austria reside. Instead of pretending that we could efficiently move all of those people to Styria, we should try and actually do something to provide for their needs.

*International Affairs*
Austria has made great strides in becoming neutral and independent. However, the lack of war is a constant complaint. Under my Presidency, I will make sure that there are enough battles to keep everyone comfortable, whether through training wars, or defending our allies.

We should be defensive and avoid hostile and aggressive actions. Improving our diplomacy is important. I will promote a strong ambassador program, that will allow people who are not fortunate enough to be elected to a position to have a position to represent Austria internationally. I also believe that we should have a stronger relationship with the Entente, possibly becoming a member. I would support observer membership in Sol. But if neutrality is best, that is what I will support.

I will be a President of the people, who can listen to their concerns and ideas, keeping an open mind, instead of being dogmatic or closed-minded. We need to work together.
