[SLP] remi.remi for the Swiss Liberal Party!

Day 2,054, 22:19 Published in Switzerland Bulgaria by remi.remi

Welcome to The Revolutionary!

I'm writing this article today to formally declare my intentions to run for Party President of the Swiss Liberal Party.

There are also some important unrelated announcements starting after the divider.

I'd like to start off by congratulating chukcha on his (country) presidential election so far today. Today, we the eSwiss community watched as the admins deleted at least 50 multi votes from chukcha's only opposer, Tyxy (a Hungarian PTOer). While today's election is not over, it is fantastic to know that the administration is on Switzerland's side!

Also, I'd like to plug in once again the Swiss Ambassador Program! Here is a great statement by Rican:

"The Ambassador Program is very important, especially for a small country like Switzerland.
We need friends in every Country. We need communication with more countries.

This is an opportunity for newer players to get involved in politics (which is in my opinion the most interesting aspect of this game). Work your way up the ranks. AND help your country."

What more do you need to hear? Become an ambassador! Here's more information:

Now down to business. This month in the SLP, Kaad was party president, and in my opinion he was great. As to my knowledge he is not running this month, I decided to toss in my own name against some very big SLP names, Hunter4Life123, whom I respect very much, and jkli5, a person that I love and would def propose to if he wasn't married. Ahem.

On the issues:

*Members
Thanks primarily to the efforts of PP Jkli5 in April/May, the SLP is 2nd in Switzerland in terms of membership numbers. This number, however, is falling. At this point in time, the SLP has only five more member than Friends ReUnited (the Romanian PTO party). I won't say we should be number 1 in Switzerland (the Anti-Imperial Movement has nearly double our numbers, and they are respectable), but we should secure our footing on the political system here in Switzerland. Gaining members (non-PTO members, mind) will be a large focus of mine if I'm elected the president of the Swiss Liberal Party.

*Encourage Newbies
This was a focus of Kaad's in his campaigning and month of party presidency, and I also believe that new members should be a priority of the SLP; I am the newest of the candidates and I have gained lots of experience from being involved in conversations in the SLP. I'd like to encourage new members to be involved in the runnings-on and decisions of the party, so that they can learn how politics in Switzerland work and how to improve their name in Switzerland. I want the SLP to be a producer of fine politicians in Switzerland. Through nurturing our new members, we will gain in numbers of functioning politicians in Switzerland.

*Promote Oldies
For one whole year (since July 2012), the Anti-Imperialist Movement has held a near monopoly on the presidents of this country. The only two presidents since then that weren't AIM were Cronoss (The Troll Warlord, which was a political takeover) and Monsieur Guillontine, of the SLP. I want the SLP to have another president, or at the very least another presidential candidate.

While updating the Switzerland (x) and Swiss Liberal Party (x) wiki pages, I learned a few things about eSwiss history. While some of you know this already because you were there when it happened, many SLP readers are from a newer era. Did you know that 4x President Eleriel, first president of the Swiss Confederation after the fall of the Theocratic Nation of Switzerland, was a member of the Swiss Liberal Party? The SLP has a good history of presidencies from several years ago, with 4 presidents in 2009 and 2010 serving 8 terms (and then Monsieur Guillontine serving 1 term late last year). While all of the AIM presidents have been effective leaders, there are several members of the SLP that have the skill and experience to run for the presidency of Switzerland. If I'm elected PP, I will work personally with these experienced citizens as well as anyone else who wants to run for CP to strengthen their campaign and ensure an effective term in presidency.

*Organize Efforts
My final and less important but still significant point is that I want to help organize the SLP and establish effective infrastructure. We can do this through taking advantage of the new Swiss forums (x). Through using the forums, we will have more credible means of keeping records. While as I have experience with forum management and would certainly be willing to help establish a forum section regardless of who wins PP, if I'm elected I will work towards creating an organized place where the SLP members (old and new) can have an equal opportunity to talk about relevant issues through a medium better than in game messages. This will help with the above two points.

While Switzerland's military issues are problematic, arguably the greatest threat to the integrity of this nation is the PTO. The political party, I've always thought, is the military unit of politics. To prevail politically, we must have strong, organized forces to combat our enemies. I believe with my help, the SLP can be the most effective political force in Switzerland.

Vote remi.remi for SLP president.

I don't know what the status of the primaries are, but I know they will/must be in the next few days. When I find out who is running the SLP primaries (I did it last month), I will post it here because I knooooow you all want to vote for me. 😉

Thanks for reading, and I'd love to have your vote in the upcoming primary elections.

Stay cool, liberal Switzerland.
