[Road to] Sleepless Nights and Inane CH Medals

Day 1,881, 04:03 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Jimbojoy

Last Thursday night, I stayed up rather later than usual. 7am to be precise. Why, you might ask, did I deny myself sleep for eRepublik business? Well dear reader, the answer lies in a phenomena whereby a peace law is proposed on an active war, when auto-attack allows the proposal and battle to run concurrently. I noticed this effect in a battle for Northern Ireland some weeks ago, where Dan Moir was unfortunate enough to have lost a CH he was winning clearly. The game cut dead the battle in a mirror of a RL armistice. I knew that the same would occur in the eUK's battle for Wales, but decided to take it on, as the most extreme risk take on a medal I have ever taken. The adrenaline rush that buoyed me throughout the night will rank among the most excited I've had in the game. It honestly was comparable to Fortress London, Hellokitty and the recent antics in the Azores for me. Very early on I had some amusement from Gav Miller, who just cannot learn when to attack for BH's 😛

The peace proposal was set with roughly twelve hours to go when I joined the fray, and needing 7 battles to win (each 1.5 hours minimum with a guaranteed 5 minute break between rounds), I knew that this would be a challenge of timing, tanking and luck. As the night progressed I was ahead on all my timings. In general the score didn't matter as we we're bossing each round along quickly and avoiding “to-ing and fro-ing” of the scoreline within each mini. I was putting down a hefty amount to keep D4 balanced, but it was the agonising wait for the other divisions that caused me the most worry. Finally, with two battles remaining, I started to worry with the heartbeat of Sir Alex on Fergie time. Alittlec4 (TUP Family Commander) put down enough damage to help me tide over the D4 damage, but at a crucial moment the D1 fight yo-yo'd between the UK and Ireland – a disaster as it ate time up! Fortunately I escaped with only the loss of points that I could bear in credit for the last round. As I entered it, I required victory from Divisions 1,2 & 4 – and that all battle's finished within 1Hr54Mins of round commencement. I went to my wardrobe, pulled out a familiar number, and slipped into my brown trousers.

Kravenn entered at an opportune moment, for I had quite gone balmy from lack of sleep, and was running around sending PMs to friends left, right and centre. He provided me some calm assurance I could get some extra D2 fighters if required, and probably saved the day near the end. Finally, after a jumpy see-saw of a battle, the numbers dropped, and I had my CH. By the seat of my pants 🙂

Just 20 mins left!

This kicks off my new series of scriblings which I call "Road to" so please subscribe to hear more. I hope you've enjoyed this little article about how much I sometimes love this game!
