[RN] Air damage poll results
The Royal Navy
Good day shipmates.
A week or so ago, following on from our Introduction to Air Battles, a discussion started about whether the Royal Navy should treat air damage differently to standard damage. Ideas were offered, schemes were proposed and - ultimately - we decided to run an informal poll to see what our members thought.
This article shows the results of that poll, along with some comments we had along the way.
Please note that nothing in this article is final - nothing is set in stone (typically stone and ships don’t mix very well). I’ll be putting these results to the RN Command team to discuss what we should do. However, while that happens feel free to check out the results and continue to comment.
Poll details
Apart from finding out who responded, the poll had three questions and an area for comments (all detailed below).
We had 21 responses in total, which is pretty good. Here’s how they break down:
As you can see, Divisions/Regiments 1 & 2 were best represented, which is no surprise - they're the ones who stand to benefit the most from more emphasis on air damage.
A very strong majority either try to fight in air battles when they’re available, or don’t particularly care. Only one person only fights in air battles and - equally - only one person avoids them. Overall, the response to air battles is pretty positive.
There’s a clear majority of people who think we should have an air regiment. 10% (two people) think we shouldn’t, 20% don’t care, and the remaining 70% think we should.
Of those who think we should, a large majority think we should have a separate air regiment, effectively allowing people to choose to join it if they want to concentrate on air damage. We already know from the previous question that 45% of people try to fight in air battles when possible, while another 45% will fight in any battle.
Again, we have pretty clear support for rewarding air damage here.
7 people think we should have different strike kits for people doing air damage
3 people don’t particularly care
3 people think things should be left as they are
This could be linked to having an air regiment - if you’re in the air regiment you get air rewards and strike kits, otherwise you get the standard ones.
Q4. Do you have any comments or suggestions?
We got some good responses and ideas here, which are simply listed below:
Air rank rewards only at a later stage - they are gained too easily at the beginning.
It’s a question of whether the MU wants to support and develop a new wing. I think the priority should lie with tanks. We need to develop air capability but anyone wishing to focus on planes might be best joining the RAF.
Rank rewards for air rank up would be nice. Do we even get rewards for air rank up at the moment?
The Air battle system is difficult to reward mostly because the weapons are stupid (single use for £30) but some food for those younger players trying to make a difference in air battles by levelling up I think could be good. As to a regiment again it would be handy but it would also be hard work to maintain DO on air battles as they don’t last long. Either way good luck with whichever ideas you go with.
Create a commune job for AF.
If enough members are available then more can be split.
Can’t mess Regiment 1 about, that would mess the order of things for the other Regiments. Don’t think we have many that do air only. We could try and get support for food for air rank ups if we agree to do them.
With a couple of weeks just fighting in air battles you can rank up a lot. I’ve only recently started fighting in air battles and my hit in them has now risen to 84, which although hardly huge is an improvement.
Some kind of recognition for air battles would be great - perhaps we could achieve this by calculating a ‘damage multiplier’ factor for damage inflicted in air battles?
In summary
Looking at the responses - and the number of responses - shows that there’s clearly interest in working out a way of encouraging, supporting and rewarding air damage within the Royal Navy. Most people seem to agree that an air damage regiment, supported by air rank rewards and Strike Sunday air kits could be the way to go.
Now we have to work out if and how the MU can do this within our means. There’s no point spending a fortune on supporting air damage at the cost of our current rewards. That process will start now - watch this space for the results!
Thanks to everyone who took part. As you can see, your opinions are important.

My personal point of view is that we should run a trial. Set up a regiment for air damage (regiment 7 - it'll need a good name), invite people to join it if they want to concentrate on air damage, appoint a Captain who can change the regiment's DO to air battles whenever possible, and then see what happens.
At the moment we get 10 or 20 Q7 weapons for a standard rank up. How about 1000 Q5 food for an air rank up? It could kick in once you get to Staff Sergeant or Aviator level, for instance. I'm sure we could work out an equivalent Strike kit as well.
Also, the government is looking for ways of enhancing and supporting our national air damage. If the RN sets something up that works, we could effectively solve their problem for them (while remaining completely independent, of course).
I am up for a trial, currently I am focussing on air damage due to the fact that I lack strength for the ground battles. A gap to 'older', 'more experienced' players that I will never close. I do notice that I do a fair amount of damage in air battles and it keeps growing every day.
I think I have given up the dream to be a tank to be an airplane , so if there is a new regiment for air I'll be the first to join.
The ideal situation would be for guys to work for weapons. But as you know the weapons are crap in battle atm.
Also http://prntscr.com/e5qtla Production is not very good.I could open more factories no problem if the demand is there...but meh,is it worth it
I don't think it's worth factoring in missiles yet. Thirty quid for a single shot is mad. If the RN tries to give them out as supplies we'll go bust.
I think regiment 5 should be for air fighters. The reward in food sounds like a good idea as well. Keeping 1-4 for fighting and their respective division makes the most sense..
