[RLCF] Brief Biography / Veep Choice / Foreign Policy

Day 1,715, 09:40 Published in Canada Canada by Jacobi

Today I’d like to focus on three different topics today. It’s been pointed out to me that there are some people who may not know my history with eCanada, and may not know what I was able to accomplish as President before. Certainly, while I’m proud of the record that I built up in government in 2009, 2010, and 2011, much of the context of what was done has been obscured by the clouds of incomplete history.

So to be brief: I was President of Canada for 248 days, I have been Speaker a couple months, in cabinet a few months more, and in Congress for over a year in the past three. I spent a summer leading HOPE, I’ve been a forum administrator, and I have some international experience as well in Irish Congress and the American State Department. During that time I doubled, and then doubled again military funding, I supported programs like the Ambassador Corps, I promoted active engagement by citizens within the eCan community, was really big on making sure government actions were in the media with the eCBC and my own paper, I pushed through reforms that increased security and decreased theft potential, and throughout it all attempted to maintain a steady and stable government. Also during that time we were wiped for the first time, gained colonies in the US, UK, and Ireland (at various times), staved off a massive Polish invasion, and had a cutesy fake war with the US. It was good times.

But if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll answer.

A Vice President is someone that provides balance to an administration, compliments the strengths and weaknesses of the President, and can step in to make Presidential decisions when the President isn’t around. I have had some excellent Vice Presidents in my time, and while all of them approached the job a bit differently, had different skill sets and priorities, the vast majority of them proved to be excellent assets for my administration. Joining a list that includes Nosyt, jfstpierre, Kelly Mahoney, and William Duncan this August will be a player that I believe will be able to provide balance and perspective for the government, will be active to shoulder some of the decisions of the administration, and will compliment my experience with some fresh outlooks. In fact, had 7 people voted a different way last election, this man would be our President today. I am speaking of the next Vice President of Canada, Tyrael Snow.

I am very much looking forward to working with him over the next two months to get our country back on track.

If you would like to join our Team, Cabinet applications from new and old are still being accepted here: http://tinyurl.com/d2gt597 If you feel you have something to contribute to the Team, do not hesitate to apply.

I touched upon some possibilities in foreign policy yesterday in my Congressional posting, and I think it would be good to elaborate a bit on what I’m looking for and what the administration will do on August 6.

As an executive summary

1) Reorient our international reputation as a fair and honest broker
2) Pursue and explore strategic partnerships to expand resource bonuses
3) Remain loyal to Terra allies while reconfiguring American relations

Civil Anarchy, a contender for the Presidency in the United States, said recently that an alliance with Canada would only take place after a time to heal. Haliman, another contender and my friend, is eager to reset the US Canadian relationship. Views of Canadians vary just as much, and since we are still at war, still trying to regain our regions, those sorts of perspectives are needed. The issue for me is more a level of confidence I have in the priorities and stability of any American government. Certainly no one would argue that a country that would elect Evry last month wouldn’t be capable of electing someone like that again.

But it is important, regardless of who becomes the next US President is that we present ourselves honestly and with integrity. That we are seen as operating above board, and that our motivations can be cleanly and clearly divined. This sort of strategy may not always yield the highest gains, but it will also us diplomatic room to manoeuvre.

It is also important that we allow ourselves strategic room to gain bonuses. Though it is hard to measure how many Canadians there are in our Team with every Tom, Dick, and Goran taking US Citizenship for the bonuses, we should not give up on trying improving the Canadian bonuses through strategic partnerships. It will be the responsibility that my administration will take as its top priority to start the process of making living in Canada an attractive proposition.

We must realize that there are a few dozen countries now, many of them our neighbors, who dwarf us in both population and military strength. This demands a realistic view of how much Canada will be able to accomplish while balancing the needs of our friends and allies. However, it is clear that we must try to expand, in a thoughtful and deliberate way, else be left even further behind.
