[RFA] Mahmoud for Party President!

Day 1,028, 13:34 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mahmoud Ibn Abdullah

So, it looks like it’s that time of the month again- Party President elections. And as usual, I’m running again, though this team I’m not just the token competition to the official candidate as in previous elections. First, let me tell you a little about myself:

1) Two-term Congressman- I know, I’m not a career politician, mainly because I get sick of every debate being about whether we want to have the House of Lords back or not, so that’s okay with me.
2) Ministry of Foreign Affairs bureaucrat- I’ve got a bit of experience in the MoFA.
3) RFA/Spectrum Vice President- I was this for several terms, and I was responsible for brainstorming many of the changes that made RFA what it is today, including the move away from the “Spectrum” branding. I’ve been with this party for over six months now, and unlike many party-hoppers in the eUK, I’m committed to its success.

That's me. Fezzes are cool.

If elected, I’d like deVillefort to be my Vice President. He’s probably the most active party member who doesn’t have responsibilities in the Government like former Party President GGRyan, and I expect him to have many good ideas in his own manifesto that we can adopt together. Additionally, I’d like to add more people to the RFA moderator group so that new recruits don’t have to wait so long to join our forum.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about the meat and potatoes issues. I’m not going to talk about policies with regards to the House of Commons and legislation. Honestly, writing policies and legislation isn’t the Party President’s job, but that of the whole party, especially those in Congress. The Party President’s job is to make sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently, and to increase the RFA’s membership. That’s what I’m going to talk about. (tl;dr summary at the bottom, but I hope you take the time to read this at some point)

As it stands, the RFA is at a crossroads- isn’t it always though? It’s a clichéd expression, but true. While our current position is secure, right now we’re pretty much a second-rate party, the party that some people think exists simply so there is a fifth party. We’re like the Belgium of eUK political parties, and that simply won’t do.

How do we solve this conundrum? Well, looking to other political parties in the eUK, such as TUP and the PCP, you’ll notice that these parties are successful due to their going above and beyond the normal duties and functions of a political party- food programs, communes, and the like.

Recently, the RFA decided to open up some food companies to develop its own food program, and while this project is in its infancy, I hope to improve and expand upon it. Additionally, if and when we get Valhalla in Norway back, I intend to open up an oil company as well. So far, these companies are being supported by party donations from members such as GGRyan and myself, but should become self-sustaining eventually.

Glorious Valhalla! Perhaps one day we shall return...

However, I intend to go above and beyond the TUP and PCP model of Party programs. Searching around the world, I found a model for truly Radical parties across the pond in the eUS, of all places. Many parties there operate their own militias and other paramilitary structures. Now before anyone suggests I’m trying to start a private army, let me assure you that I don’t have plans to start any militias or detract from our awesome military in any way, but rather to complement it through programs directed at RFA members serving in the eUK Armed Forces. The aforementioned food program would be one of these programs, employing RFA members off rotation and supplying them with food for healing during battles.

Another facet of this plan would be organizing RFA members from the Western Hemisphere in real life, and those from the UK who like to stay up VERY late at night into an unofficial night army and have second strikes while most of the eUK sleeps, in addition to the official daytime strikes. Since our primary enemy, the Yankee coward and his Canadian pals, like to attack us at night, having someone around to at least put up a fight is necessary. Finally, I plan to recruit a team of the nation’s finest satirists and trolls in order to publish regular articles in the EDEN media, partly to harass our enemies, but mostly because it’s just really fun to tick off Yankees, Poles, and Romanians! 🙂

I wish to greatly expand our domestic media presence as well. Right now all our paper ever publishes is the occasional party manifesto, or some recruitment piece or another. I want to expand to reporting on actual news to get our subscriptions up, and to make a name for the Party. I’ll be looking to recruit volunteers to work on our media team to produce this content. Anyone who wants to write and expose their work to a larger audience is welcome to apply, and all contributors will be properly and publicly recognized for their work for the paper. I’d like to actually use the Public Party Forum we have sitting around as well. I worked hard to get that through, and it’s a shame we aren’t using it.

As for recruitment, I’m going to push hard to make sure everyone, including myself, keeps up on the recruitment. I know I’ve not been doing much lately, but there hasn’t been much of an organized recruitment program in a while, and without organization people have a tendency to put recruitment off or simply forget about it. If I’m not mistaken, we still have a mailing tool somewhere that I’d like everyone to use. Hopefully, though, we won’t have to focus too much on recruitment, since people will have heard of our programs and exploits and go out of their way to join us. Wishful thinking, perhaps, but definitely a goal to aim for.

Finally, inter-party relations. I intend to ally with any party that will support the RFA’s interests, and runs a competent candidate our party members support. I’m not afraid to go it alone if none of the other parties are running a candidate we like, either. If elected, I will ensure the RFA is not in thrall to any party. Additionally, I want to improve our cooperation with Eesti Rahvuslased, the Estonian party with which we are currently allied. This alliance has great potential, especially economic, and isn’t nearly as awesome as it could be.

We have some good friends in eEstonia.

So, to sum up- (tl;dr)

1) I want to have many operating party companies
2) I want to help our men in the Army out with food and stuff
3) I want to troll EDEN
4) I want to have a real newspaper
5) We need more recruitment
6) We should stand strong as a party and seek out more international allies

If this sounds good to you, please vote for me on Election Day!
