***Returning Home, Facing Cold Wars and Economics***
Uncle Sam
So here's a nice little update on negotiations since it seems as if they won't go anywhere. Here are, as I recently posted for my congress and discussed with them, The Negotiations.
From PEACE
Dishmcds - Mexico
Dhoo - Mexico
MamaDaker - Mexico
Bimba - Mexico
Arthk - Portugal
From ATLANTIS
Uncle Sam - USA
Leroy Combs - USA
Publius - USA
Meiko - ex SG
We debated negotiation terms and it essentially revolved around two things, Hospital reparations and war games.
Reparations: Mexico asked that the USA pay for a Q5 hospital as well as supply a bit of economic aid to Mexico. In total this would cost the USA about 350 gold, by rough estimate. In return the USA would get the following
War Games: Mexico would allow the USA to attack their regions over and over again until they have their fill and it's free battles with no political strings attached for as long as we want. Essentially war games on their grounds.
Analysis and USA response: If we were to attack over and over, PEACE would be getting way more war experience from battles that we pay for. Mexico was also unwilling to rent us a region for a time, which prevents us from doing resistance war games.
It was proposed that if they allow us to rent a region, we'd be perfectly willing to pay reparations. Also, if we did the type of war game they proposed, we asked if both countries would attack back and fourth, switching the MPPs and making it a fair training exercise for both countries. They would not agree to that due to disputes about how the MPP system works.
As we no longer have anything to lose, we have the leverage in these negotiations as we do not need to pay them anything now that the war is over. We can easily enter a cold war and allow Mexico to rebuild on its own with no damage to us. At this point, no deal is better than the deal they were offering, and so we will now have the ability to focus on domestic issues for a time. Will they ever attack us? It is doubted as they were not willing to do war games where they attack us for fear of the MPPs and that the USA may attack back into their land. Relations can be fixed, however not through economic reparations at this time. This is no longer a matter of what happened in the past, but a matter of how we handle the situation now.
(that's a shout out to those of you PEACE members)
Negotiations will continue for now, and this update says we're getting closer to reaching a mutually beneficial agreement.
Back to Domestic Issues
While I say domestic, I mean Domestic and ATLANTIS issues. we have a country of weakened morale, as well so soaring market prices. The dollar value is still increasing despite the fact that we have constantly been putting USD back into circulation. We also find ourselves looking at ATLANTIS and wondering what to do about our position in the alliance. After talking with a few members of cabinet about these issues, we have formulated solutions to some of them.
Printing More USD
Now before everyone freaks out, listen to the logic behind this proposal
We're currently facing a dollar value that is always raising. Out taxing system takes USD out of circulation, and then we put it right back in for Gold in return. You would think that even though we just went through a long term war, and that the amount of USD in the system hasn't changed, that the dollar value would go down right?
One factor that hasn't been considered is the population. The USA hasn't printed USD since we've had around 8000 citizens or less. With more citizens holding USD, our currency is more scarce among the citizens, making it more valuable (raising the dollar value). Also consider that citizens collect the citizen fee and then half of them die off, keeping the USD, so over the months USD has been lost to the void of dead citizens, and if fact there is less USD in circulation.
So the solution is to print off more USD and introduce it to the system. Before we do this, lets take a look of the effects it would have on the economy. We print about 200K USD, which will cost 1000 Gold. Once we do this, we have USD that we can release into the system and regulate a dollar value that is still steadily climbing. Also, the USD once printed can be turned into Gold again, and if we decide to bring the dollar value down to .015, we'd get 3000 gold in return. Essentially Government profits in budget money quickly, will allowing us to regulate a dollar value that the Economic Council has suggested be lowered to at least .017 if not .016.
With growing population, we'll need to introduce more money to balance out the system, and printing more USD is a beneficial answer to this economic issue. This proposal is currently being run through the economic council, and will be passed into the House of Representin' shortly.
(Idea and more reasoning behind the idea have been generated by Jewitt)
Market Prices
During these war tames, Weapons, Gifts, Moving Tickets, Iron and even Wood took a hit on the markets. Prices have soared over the past few days because of over stimulation of war. What is the solution to this problem? Simple, we eliminate the source of the stimulation, market prices will go down due to a lack of demand. For the economic reasons, the USA will take a break from any being directly involved in a war for at least a week. This does not mean that some type of war is on my agenda for the rest of this term, however we won't need to get involved for a while as it will actually benefit our country and allow us to recharge our economy for the next time we want to get involved.

Primero! 😛
Not pertamaxx
Woo, I got a mention. It was based on the Economy though, what?! Everyone knows I am just trying to act like I know what I am talking about 😉
And Peace will prevail on Mexico.
I'm sorry, but that's a load of rubbish. The reason we wouldn't "loan" you a region was because there was no benefit to Mexico itself. You would be running resistance wars in Mexico, but Mexico wouldn't be able to intervene directly into the resistance war, which would mean we couldn't improve our own military. You would get stronger at the expense of Mexico, so of course we're not about to accept. And the reason you should pay reperations is because u attacked Mexico without any real reason.
But hey, you want a Cold War, go ahead, because sooner or later, PEACE will simply destroy you, and Mexico is the one directly benefiting from it.
"Still Working for a Stronger America"
FAIL!
😑
The United States is going to pay Mexico "Reparations"?
You must be kidding.
"So the solution is to print off more USD"
UhOh... Time to stockpile back up on Gold.
Every war has no reason. This one was no different. Reparations my ass
"This is no longer a matter of what happened in the past, but a matter of how we handle the situation now"
"Hey guys, sorry if we invaded and screwed up, and eventually got our butts kicked. Let's go back to the way it was, and forget about it. k?"
@Doushie,
first off you're aptly named. Second, we negotiated for other ways of war games, such as the attack back and fourth tactic, which would be completely fair, training both sides. We could have had those kind of war games as well as the USD paying reparations for a fair trade and a good opportunity to rebuild even and good relations between our countries.
Instead, Mexico decided to be a hard ass in the negotiations and missed out on that opportunity. They're demands were more one sided, while our demands would benefit both countries if not your a bit more.
Now that Uncle Sam congress buddies failed to represent the people's will and saved him from a deserved impeachment he thinks he's safe and acts tough. Who knows. Maybe he is, but I'm not so sure the people of eUSA won't have to pay for his actions somewhere down the road. He has a few weeks in power left, but the eUSA is about to make one more embittered enemy and prove once again to the eWorld that it does not listen to the voices of reason, justice and diplomatic compromise, but instead blindly obeys its presidents' whims and believes that might is the only right.
The President is to blame for the war. American taxpayers shouldn't be forced to pay Reparations for this war.
Glad to see you're not going to pay those "reparations".
This I generally approve of.
"The President is to blame for the war."
Actually, the President is to blame for the poor strategy. The Congress is to blame for actually going to war though.
It's funny how messed up USA got lol. Seriously? I'd be pissed if I was in this nation big time.
Attacking Mexico and a big disaster happened!
200k USD is far too much to release into the market. Salaries values will go down, but prices will not. This is just another way to allow our rich exporting companies and the government to profit to the detriment of the common man.
Once again, big government and companies benefit, but the average peson doesn't. Sounds familiar...
you didnt put me up as a negotiator?
i am hurt ;__;
Uncle Sam, if you and your pro-ATLANTIS agenda had been removed from power further confrontation with PEACE would have been totally unnecessary. You are serving a term of infamy - a streak of lies, failure and broken promises. Nobody trusts you - neither your people, nor your allies, nor your enemies. Your word is worthless. Uncle Sam = epic fail.
"which would be completely fair, training both sides. "
Sure. And what's fair about activating American MPP's? You made the choice to do so, not PEACE.
Oh good, one week off of poorly planned wars, that should help a lot... Maybe we need to consider looking at something other than war games to strengthen our nation. Anyone who thinks that war games are getting old and failing to help the American people should read this: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/a-new-american-way-part-1-it-s-the-economy-stupid-756574/1/20
Question:
I'm not an economist.
It seems to me that wages have been falling-- does printing more dollars make wages go up?
heh.. all you people do is flam lmao. At least Sam/gov is attempting to do something, as opposed to nothing. Honestly, if any of you people have an issue with how the gov is run, GO RUN IT YOURSELF and quit bitc*ing about crap lol. Thats the beauty about this game, ANYONE can do it!
"does printing more dollars make wages go up"
-Jon
Nope... The Government is effectively debasing the currency
by printing more dollars.
*Sigh*...
If you print 200k USD, I'll resign Secretary of Treasury. Just throwing that out there.
Alby: Actually, it should have almost no affect. See the Economic Council reporting on it later on this week. Essentially, we have not printed money since we were at 7,800 citizens, respectively, and to keep supply and demand at equilibrium it is the government's job to ensure we do have an extremely expensive currency else we could risk major issues with foreign trade coming in seeking our higher value dollar which even a 99% tariff cannot stop (ie. See: Spain's markets)
Currently, there is well over 2m USD in circulation and to keep up with increased population, we should increase it by 23%. However, the proposal presented currently asks for just 200k (Off the top of my head, that is what? 10%?) to focus in on multiple factors of the game, supply to citizens being one and bringing in GOLD for the eUS Government another.
Not meaning to argue, as I do not want to have to repeat myself when the proposal is presented, but rest assured it is being researched cause v. affect before being presented to our law makers.
"And the reason you should pay reperations is because u attacked Mexico without any real reason."
So they should pay you because the attacked you? Shut up and be happy they are trying to work something out with you
I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure Cold Wars should be avoided. Keep on negotiating.
What does being a doctor have to do with it?
I may not be a ditchdigger, but I think you should use a can opener.
I am in all honesty ok that we went to war for no strong reason, and that we lost. However, the one thing that i'm not ok with is us paying such massive repirations for this
Until we've got a peace treaty with Portugal, we have an Eight-Nation coalition sitting on our doorstep, including Indonesia.
Nice to see you made so much progress, Sam.
You have no morals, decency or common sense. That is easy to tell.
All that PEACE did was to teach the eUSA a lesson of humility you so desperately need. But seems you refuse to learn from your mistakes.
I was hoping peace could be agreed but seems like you aren't willing to accept the blame for this disaster YOU caused.
Have it your way Uncle Sam, you always do. And we all know how far that has gotten eUSA.
I'm not completely aboard with the idea of paying Mexico.
Point of correction, Nephew Sam: The Moving Ticket industry did not take a hit from the war. In fact, prices dropped to around $14 and have stayed there.
Please stop displaying your ignorance.
Please run for another term 😃
I'm no Indo, you dummy. Learn to recognize national flags and learn to spell - it's "less than", not "less then 🙂
Great Article. One of the best you have published in awhile. It is articles like this that makes me support you as President.
uncle sam may have pushed to much but he had balls to try it alone like he did, other countrys don't do anything without having half a dozen back them up, it may have been stupid but its was fun
Darn them inactive citizens for taking US Dollars with them to the grave! I propose that someone should take their their wallets when they die.
Enyar, are you suggesting eUSA president should be chosen based on stupidity and recklessnes?! Then the eAmerican nation will have a very hard time making a choice, because so many teenagers are so overqualified 🙂
Um, your ALL to 'blame', you Vote them in.
From the US: The war gained nothing in terms of more resources. We lost every territory we took, and no invaded territory had anything we needed.
But-- Americans did rank up.
Americans did get their wellness up. I saw this in doing the stats for my own NG platoon.
Wellness means vastly increased production which should result in an economic boom (I'm still waiting for that to show up in salaries)😉
But, true, we may have made a permanent enemy to the south. Now, the 9 member coalition (including Indonesia! Gasp!) that faced our border in Florida is also facing our border in Texas.
If they want to take their pick of targets, have at it.
And, if Portugal wants to develop the zones it occupies, so much the better for the Mexicans. Mexico was lagging economically, militarily, and in population, which made it such an attractive target for the US, especially given that it was loosely aligned with PEACE.
But now that Portugal has come to the rescue of Mexico, I'm sure they will be willing to rebuild infrastructures such as hospitals and defense systems for Mexico, perhaps even form companies.
And then, I'm sure, that when the Portuguese feel sure that Mexico is strong enough to stand on its' own, they will depart, and leave Ciudad Mexico to Mexicans. But that might take awhile. Hopefully, Mexicans will be patient.
WE LOVE UNCLE SAM!
lol @ Q5 hospital. lol @ reparations. For once, I agree with Sam and his rejection of the demands and his assessment of negotiations.
@JB Bluejacket, agreed. as far as i'm concerned, the war really was a win, or atleast a draw, as the whole point was to gain experience and wellness. my ng platoon improved their situation pretty well, and there really is nothing in mexico we wanted anyway, except for a territory for RW bait. probably sounds like sour grapes to PEACE, but that invasion was the best thing to happen to eMexico... now the whole eWorld actually knows they exist!
JBB, was the ranking up worth the 700 gold fine paid to ATLANTIS?
Also would you like to have the next round of the world war start with a double threat at your south border? Become a principal target of PEACE GC attacks aimed at diverting eRomanian forces from the Asian and European theaters?
Uncle Sam doesn't want to make amends to Mexico nad Portugal, because he doesn't want to risk another impeachement vote by reminding the nation of his recent dismal failure, but eUSA can't just ignore Mexico and PEACE forever - you have to negotiate, and you have to offer something, not just say "you have no leverage at this moment, so you'll get nothing". That's the stand of someone who's interested only in completing his term, but a nation has to look much further ahead when making decisions.
Brooke Bentley, geting totally pwned, losing 700 gold for nothing and aquiring a hostile 10-nation coalitin for your southern neighbour doesn't qualify as "win". And it's not "draw" either. That's nothing less than epic fail. And you shoudl thank to your president, who's much fatser at clicking than at thinking, if he ever does the latter., because he's too busy writing cheap jingoistic trash goading eAmericans into delusions of greatness and doing stupid things for "lulz".
Great. A "Bay of Pigs" outcome equivalent.
I think my brain just hemorrhaged.. 😑
How can the value of the dollar be rising and market prices be rising? If the value of the dollar is rising, all else being equal, then the dollar costs of good and services in dollar goes down. If the prices are going up, it means that a single dollar can buy less goods, and thus the value is falling. The only time what you're talking about is possible is if there is an unusually large demand on a single product, thus driving the price of one good (good 'A'), but the net result would be that the prices of everything else goes down in order to counter act the increased dollar and increase in good 'A'. Its simple macro-economics.
