(Re-)Declaration of War Against Canada and POTUS Candidacy

At 18:11 eRepublik Time yesterday evening, President Evry officially declined to withdraw from peace negotiations with the Canadian Government. As discussed in my previous article, I am consequently declaring my candidacy for the Presidency of the United States and opening applications for Cabinet positions.* As essentially a single-issue candidate, my remarks shall remain brief for the time being.

It would be disingenuous of me to promise growth in our population and economy where, for all our efforts, such results are rarely, if ever, certain.** Would a continuation of the heightened activity that has characterised the eUS in the past week lead to higher retention rates among new players? Perhaps. Would it lead to increased market activity from weapons and food purchases by Americans eager to fight on either side of the conflict? Likely so. But I cannot and will not guarantee that.

What I will guarantee if elected President, however, is certain war with Canada. If a peace treaty is not concluded by the time I take office, I will prosecute the active war until the entirety of our continent is unified under American blue. If the current war comes to an end on or before election day (August 5), my very first act of office will be a new Natural Enemy proposal against Canada, a proposal that I will lobby Congress by all necessary legal means to see passed. Read my lips: that is a solemn promise to the American people. If, Dio forbid, the forces at play keep me from executing that promise, I will step down from the Presidency by means of voluntary impeachment and allow Evry (whom, despite our political differences, I hold no enmity towards) [will not be seeking re-election], or whoever else comes second in the election, to take the reins.
