Mornin’ lads o7,

An auspicious Thursday; the eUK having not spontaneously combusted at the utter idiocy of another Appleby presidency barely a year from the last. It appears apathy will be the government’s chief ally this term, fending off incoming disaster after disaster with the eUK’s magic stick of generally not giving a flying ****.

The process of siphoning off the community’s modest fortune is a slow business however, so my fellow crooks and I have elected to try an ‘govern’ in the interim anyway. Reckon you deserve a cut? Sign up to government…

Also obligatory grats to FightAndProduce who joins us as Co-MoD.

Foreign Affairs Brief

I expect we’ll be asking Parliament to vote on leaving our current alliance (PLUTO) within the week. There is a small chance we may delay this depending on the sincerity of other members on keeping it alive, but it has largely been a shambling corpse for a while now. This obviously begs the question of what to do next. We have a number of options open to us, strange times such as they are we have no hostile neighbours (yet) and even all of our regions (for now). One of the ironic perks of failing miserably in the resource wars is we have very little to invade over…

Whilst peace lasts we’ll be keeping our options open and getting a better idea of global shifts in interest. If you want to get involved, speak a foreign language or have an interest in a foreign affairs we’re training up potential ambassadors – get in touch with either Jimmy, VM, AMD or me 🙂. As we can’t think of a decent reason to invade anyone we will be discussing an informal accord between north European neighbours guaranteeing respect of national borders and observation of TW agreements. So far the only request has been the sacking of AMD – I gather the foreign office are delighted...

Defence Brief

Initial unadventurous spending plans have been more or less thrown out the window. This is largely in recognition of the fact coordination and enthusiasm has become a major issue over the past year. Whilst we were never really a major player in terms of damage output, it has occasionally made the difference when it mattered. With over a million sitting dormant in the treasury I feel we can probably afford to play with it a bit.

An obvious starting point is getting the majority to follow MoD orders as they come in and keep an eye on changing priorities. As mentioned in our manifesto we’ll be bringing back the old ‘Call to Arms’ policy – A general 5 Q7 supply every 2 days for everyone voting, shouting and fighting in the MoD orders. We’re also looking into bringing back community strikes again depending on the feedback from individual MU commanders. Finally we’ll be nationalizing the ‘national’ military unit, where it will be run directly by the MoD.

Finance Brief

Part of our manifesto was fiddling about with import tax and watching wut happens – this will require parliament’s nod and we’ll be submitting the necessary proposals soon. At current we are considering a flat 20% rate for weapons and food as our housing production is fairly poor.

The other issue is the largely ignored long-term deposits system that has been unheeded for several months now. After a chat with Huey it seems the sensible option would be to re-invest the funds on the monetary market rather than sitting dormant on individual citizen accounts. This will need parliament to repeal the act so again proposals will be sent soon.

Home Affairs Brief

As with Defence, spending plans for this department are due to be massively increased with the new labour philosophy of throwing copious amounts of money at something in a last botched effort to make it work again. This effectively means minimal participation could randomly bag you lotsa money in another humiliating defeat for Johnny Taxpayer

We should also have a fresh batch of information articles out soon, particularly focusing on how to play the monetary market and navigate your way through the new economic changes. If you’d like to help out then get in touch with either Voodoo or Charles Moncrieff.

Much obliged gents o7,

Appleby
