[President] Trust in our Circles!

Day 2,000, 15:05 Published in Denmark Denmark by pho3nix

It can't just be the newly appointed Minister of Education that's writing all the material in this country. I don't like excuses, but I wrote a letter to an old friend of mine. Was supposed to be 2-3 pages at max. I filled six and a half. But I feel a responsibility to contribute, so here I go.

By the way, thanks for re-electing me.

Being President and Minister of Labor at the same time can be quite a mouthful. The President part means you have to be active in replying to a lot of messages, being available to people from all over the world and trying to show some interest in what they have to say. Mostly, people send me questions about citizenship. Honestly, I find it hard to understand what people really want in Denmark. In terms of game mechanics, this really is a back alley. Now, I'm a nice guy - so I can't just turn people down. Well, I could - but sometimes I try a bit harder.

Denmark needs more ambassadors, so I've welcomed at least one. He hasn't presented himself on the forums so far, but I'm sure he'll get along to that sometime soon.

The PTO-situation.

Being part of the Danish society means that you have to earn our trust. It can't be won. I'm very happy to see that we, as a community, have taken steps forward to defend the country we hold dear. Last week we were able to delete one of the political parties - making it even harder for the people in Cowboys from Hell to gain any sort of power. We're also turning the tables for next elections - throwing Danes into their own ranks to gain power of CfH as well.

So far the PTO'ers have spent 80 Gold just creating two parties. Let's see if they're willing to spend another 40 - or if they can take a hint.

As for adding strength to the community, I have two announcements to make. First, I would like to personally congratulate our Confederate Brothers and Sisters on their successful application to the Circle of Trust alliance. After months of negotiations and trials Germany is finally to take part of the alliance as full time members. This will add strength not only to the alliance, but it also fortifies us as a Confederation and makes sure we can turn our attention to where it is mostly needed. I salute my colleague Neuen, who's already shown great leadership skills, and I thoroughly enjoy cooperating with the German government.

Treaty Negotiations
Second, negotiations regarding the Treaty of Germark have been going on to-and-fro the last couple of days. I've already posted my suggested draft for a re-worked treaty, which will be the basis of the vote. Mostly it is a more clearly stated piece of text, not filled with strange language and vague rules. Two news are of importance however, and we badly need to discuss a thir😛

- The treaty states that we're going to run a common Ministry of Defense. That means I want someone from the Danish community inside Confederation HQ, to be our eyes, ears and mind. I don't want to strain my already very busy ministers, so I'll be looking for volunteers.

- Both parties in the Confederacy (Germany and Denmark) can now request 25% of each other's citizenship grants. This is supposed to work as a rapid-response line in times of need. PTO's, changes in cabinet, appointments etc. This doesn't mean that we should shuttle people back and fourth between the countries - but it means that we now have that option.

- There's a part about the Terms of Dissolution. That's something we have to work on, even though I know our Confederation will last for quite some time ahead. Should the day come when our two nations chooses to go separate ways, this treaty has to be created beforehand. This is something we will have to work on during the month.

Welfare in progress
The Welfare experiment is progressing quite well. So far, we have 12 employees working for a state guaranteed salary - and the return on investment is way beyond what I expected when we started this. First, let it be known that all you have to do in order to apply for such a job are three things:
1. Danish Citizenship.
2. Forum registration.
3. Connect to and answer some questions about yourself on IRC.
We currently don't have an upper limit on the number of applicants this program, so please: feel free to apply if you feel that you are eligible.

It's not all good however. The average market wage is dropping. From 6 DKK a couple of days ago to 4,8 DKK today. Meanwhile, weapons are best priced as follows: Q5 > Q7 > Q4 >Q6. Surely, there's room for competition - and perhaps even some profit! I challenge more people to take part in the race of the market, and starting next week I'm putting myself on the line for that race as well. We can do better. The market will only improve if we do something about it. Buy Danish, and buy enough! Unless you're a newbie. In that case KristianKlausen will have some news for you in a few days.

I'd also like to share the spotlight a bit.
Kristian Klausen accepted the spot as Minister of Education a few days ago. It's impressive to see a new player rise up and take on the challenge that we're throwing at him with such grace. Truly, if every new player was as ambitious and active as Kristian - we'd have a grand nation.
The Welfare-team, consisting of almost all of my ministers, the Complaints Officer and all the GM's and employees. It almost brings a tear to my eye to see this program work so well. I'm damn proud, of all of you.
Maine Coon, not only our Minister of Foreign Affairs, Captain Queen, Commander of Armed Forces. Perhaps the reason Denmark still is around on the map. Awe-inspiring.
ilphen - the Kraut who took on my challenge when I told him I didn't feel he was contributing enough. I've had to eat up my words, with weekly updates on German affairs - and almost constant IRC-presence. Another great addition to our community.

I once again urge any and all opposition to step forward. From my own ranks or otherwise; we need some alternatives in this country. We need more people, doing more things so that others can spend their time coming up with new ideas. I for one would like to work on my scheme to overthrow the Captain Queen, and begin a new chapter in Danish Nobility. Sitting on two chairs however, I'm not aiming for a third chair.

I am however aiming for a third term. I hope I can prove myself worthy of it by serving yet another month.

Hail Germark! Congratulations, Sisters and Brothers! Stay alive and well Danes!

That's an order!
Yours truly,
