[PotUS] Standing By a Friend in Need

I would like to start off with a topic that is war related, however, not related to our Canadian-US war. But rather, it is related to a conflict involving one of our dear allies. Recently a conflict developed between Russia, and Ukraine/Lithuania. As most people know, Russia was a very loyal and helpful ally when we were in Terra. We remember and will honor that friendship in the defense of their nation.



In the past we have been invaded by Russia as well as occupied some native Russian regions. However, as has happened numerous times in eRepublik history, we looked past our differences and have since become extremely close allies. We will stand with Russia on the battlefield in defense of their homeland.



This stance is a great example of the foreign policy I published two weeks ago. Ukraine is a very important member in EDEN. However, Russia is more than just a member of an alliance which we support, they are a friend. Many people have pointed at my policy as a way to become Pro-ONE. However, it is nothing like that. It’s simply a departure from the box-like foreign policy where you’re either in Terra, in EDEN, or in ONE. And if let’s say you’re a member in Terra, you’re essentially forced to send MPPs to countries in EDEN, and even nations that are merely friends of nations in EDEN. This could be regardless of the fact that you’ve never spoken to anyone from that country, or that they have never supported you in a time of need.

We’re trying to break that trend. We would much rather be allies with countries who we consider to be friends and countries who actually support us. Why would we want to support yet another conflict over some nameless region in eastern europe when that same country we supported for the 200th time refuses to help us when we’re at war or need assistance? I would much rather be allied to countries such as Russia, Brazil, China, Spain, Ireland, Finland, or the Netherlands. These countries (and more) actually support us and would fight for us if called upon.



And finally, a note about the Canadian war. We have already begun ending the war with our Natural Enemy being removed from Canada, with them to do the same soon. They have however decided to embargo our country, so I will be countering with an embargo of my own and it will be up to congress to vote on.
