[PotUS] Day Twenty Eight
Wild Owl
Hey America,
Its been three days since my previous update, so all of you are due a new article. This one will probably be a bit longer than the usual ones because of the considerable content that needs to be covered.
Hostilities with Portugal
Our war against Portugal didn’t start very well. Working with our foes, they were able to open Resistance Wars which were a pain to win, although after considerable hard work by many citizens and the National Security Council, we were able to comfortably win all four Resistance Wars. However, the victories came at a cost- we lost our initial attack against Portugal.
Portugal then attacked Florida, and we were able to beat them with considerable ease. Our allies, Spain, have managed to take Algarve from Portugal although the Portugese were able to hold them off in Madeira. Since then, we’ve taken the Azores and are well on our way to take Alentejo, while Spain and Portugal battle it out in Castille y Leon.
From an economic perspective, we gain absolutely nothing by attacking Portugal. However, for the duration of this competition, this has proven to be a fruitful exercise which has rejuvenated our community and provided help to Spain. I am thankful to Portugal for providing us good competition militarily, after a long time.
Alliance Discussions
It is no secret that we will be joining an anti-Serbia alliance, and our FA department is working tirelessly to ensure that our group ends up on the winning side. In the past few days, we have signed MPPs with Spain, Poland and the United Kingdom- all of them our foes, in the past, who have moved on from Serbia.
Some old brothers like Croatia and Albania are obviously going to stay on our side. Russia has committed full support to us, and we are thankful to have them by our side. Others have decided to part ways, despite our attempts at continuing relations, as they donot approve of our new friends. This is natural and is only to be expected in times of alliance upheavel. We wish them the very best of luck in all future endeavours.
Our northern neighbours, meanwhile, have decided to sign a MPP with Serbia. Despite our friendship with Poland and Spain, we never fought against Canada when its core regions were concerned, respecting our old friendship and the brolliance. Say what you will about Canada being “forced” to do this, Canada had a fair shot at working out an agreement as it has done in the past with its occupiers, but it chose a different route. It is disappointing to see them take this path, but to each, their own.
This is about it. I’m running for a second term, as many of you would know and am thankful for the support that I have received so far. I hope you guys do consider voting for me, and continuing our successes on the 5th of February.
Sincerely,
Wild Owl

So glad you're our CP.
Canada sucks, btw. I find it funny that they've allied with Serbia and that so many are *still* upset by our choice to not stick by them.
Awaiting "they were forced to ally with Serbia" arguments...

So you have abandoned your traditional allies and instead focused on attacking them.
If anyone had any illusions about eMurica having competent leadership this should end that misconception.
I find it interesting that you could play this game since 08 and still be so woefully misinformed about this. Allies change over time, Poland and Spain were once our allies when we were in EDEN, they chose a different path. Now we have come back together again. Russia, Brazil, the UK, Bulgaria, Chile, Argentina, Australia, the list of countries that have left older allies to try something new goes on and on. Maybe spend more time trying to make eJapan less of a joke power wise and less time insulting us for doing something that every nation has done at some point.
I find it interesting that you would insult eUS leadership when the leadership of Japan has been lackluster for pretty much the entirety of its existence in this game.
eMurica and eMurican leadership has always been a joke. Learn some history before lecturing me.
lol I like that your idea of a good argument is to ignore what I've said completely and just restate your initial claim. Really well done.
And you find that interesting... 🙂
Meow! ♥
Voted with pride.
All the good for you in future.
Well...since it was not specified...
Planning to leave eJapan yet?
No.

Guess I will have to try harder next time!

The choice to sit idle and hoping for our enemies good graces is no choice at all. It wasn`t our first preferred option but like you said we made the choice as not many doors were open for us.
Its better to seek some new friendships than to be stuck with none at all.
No hate or blame in this post it is what it is.
The lines of communication will ever be open.
eCanada does not surrender like the eUSA has in the past the day after we are wiped. We fought 8 long months before we had to cut a deal, and still, we broke that NAP the first chance we got because we don't lay down like our southern neighbors
This time we saw a chance to join a real alliance rather than cow tow with old friendships that get us nowhere
Take your disappointment and shove it...
Guess I`m good cop today lmao
..and the best thing is, you actually believe what you write!
delicious

When i was in eUS it always disappointed me how the alliance with eCan was kinda ignored and left to fester during the war , It was just so sad considering how the two countries had always stood side by side right up until eCan needed help.
I'm sorry are you proud of accomplishing nothing for 8 months just because you would rather be self-righteous than pragmatic? I also don't see how breaking that NAP is anything to be proud of either, but I do like that you completely left out the context of the situation in your reply. You know that whole determination thing where?
We all have our own ways of making this game fun I guess, to each his own.
Now good sir, you are becoming a bit too nationalistic. I negotiated that NAP so I know it was not broken. We (Spain and Canada) understood that the determination bonus would give is back the final regions anyways, so they agreed to give them back. I'd prefer you stick to the facts when arguing ( as you usually do) and refrain from insults as it seems to have interfered with your argument.
I wouldn't call us self righteous, I would call it proud.
Klop you know I don't have any issue with you, or frankly most eCanadians. Frankly I didn't think that Canada broke the NAP, however Rolo made it seem otherwise in his comment, and that is what I was referring to.
There are different ways to play this game, some prefer to play it like a game and make their choices based off what gives them the numerically best chance of victory over a predetermined length of time, while others choose a more narrative or role playing based approach, though most seem to be in between. Frankly I think Canada has been stuck in a certain narrative for quite a while now.
I don't have anything against using a narrative to make this game interesting, hell I've even advocated doing the same thing, http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/i-want-to-go-on-a-great-crusade-2247497/1/20. But when someone from another country comments on an article by our president and shows nothing but disrespect, and bases his comments off of an approach to the game that not everyone agrees with, I really can't help but respond in kind.
Like I said, we all have our own ways of making this game fun for ourselves and for our friends, but I think people should try harder to do that without, to be quite frank, coming across as an a$$hole like Rolo. I know its something I have to struggle to do 😛
Fair agreement? It took 8 f'ing months last time. Since you decided we were not even worth the time to even help broker a peace, what choice did we have? You could of thrown us a life preserver, but instead you choose to throw us under a bus. Spain showed us much more support then you did.
I think it's unfair to say that Canada made it own choice. They are left out by their big allies, just because they still play this game instead of sign deals and NAP's.
Canada done what was needed to do pretty much considering their situation and Ireland supports them. USA made its decision to ally their enemies, I guess it was "If you can't beat them, join them".
