Hello citizens of the eWorld!

I am proud to announce that the eUK has decided to join the Alliance PEACE GC. This action was approved by our Congress with over a super majority of 66% voting yes. On top of that, our secondary legislative body, the House of Lords, voted yes UNANIMOUSLY to joining PEACE.

PEACE have been nothing but good to us since we began communication with them when ATLANTIS collapsed. They understood our position that we wanted to look at improving relations with all Countries, while keeping our former Allies. On the other hand, our former Allies were not so happy with our open approach to diplomacy. While other nations wanted to limit our options, PEACE were opening new doors for us everyday.

Firstly, we were never approached about EDEN. So that door was never open, which honestly was understandable since previous administrations had chosen to help Germany over Sweden and her Allies. But it did create complications when we wanted to Ally with Fortis, who aimed to keep EDEN as strong partners, while still regarding PEACE as enemies. That was not the philosophy of the current UK Government; we wanted to keep friendly with PEACE, but stick by the Fortis countries too.

By this stage, plans for a Hungary Training War were well under way, so when we tentatively approached the USA about that possibility of being in Fortis while having a TW with Hungary, it was met with a resounding "No". We had also seen public posts on the eUSA forum of the now current President of the USA saying, "UK are only Allies on paper". As well as that, we had apparently been given an Alliance rating of "F" by the USA. Frankly, if they didn't want us as Allies, we didn't want them either.

Congress discussed all these facts, and we came to the conclusion that we would go ahead with the WarGames with Hungary, as it provided a very clear oppurtunity of improvement for the whole of the UK, whereas Fortis had proven to be an American dominated Alliance who didn't care for us. Congress decided to stay neutral for as long as possible.

As it turned out, that wasn't very long. Following the announcement of the TW with Hungary, the Fortis and EDEN nations were up in arms, shouting "traitor". So, because we want to better our Country, we are traitors? People made assumptions too fast about Scotland being used in the World War, and to this day it still has had no effect on War in any way. A little trust in an Ally that had stood behind you for months wouldn't have gone amiss.

All the while, Hungary had been welcoming of our new friendship. Indonesia, too, had promised to stand beside us should we be threatened. As well as that, we have been Allies with Italy for months, and we continue to be. While ex-ATLANTIS Nations were pushing us away, PEACE were embracing us.

The Trade Embargo was the last straw for us, and it showed the whole UK what the USA thought of us. The public had seen the benefit of our TWs with Hungary, and they were finally enjoying eRepublik. They saw what the game was meant to be like. Just that, a game. The economy was booming, Wars were regular, and World War was raging all around us. PEACE has offered us a stable Alliance, good friends, and a chance to have fun. They have done something our old Allies have chosen not to do, and take a chance, and trust us. We will do our utmost to repay this trust, and show how the UK can help PEACE.

So thank you PEACE for accepting us, we will not let you down.
