Daily Quiz #16-25
Apologies for not being able to publish daily quizzes for the past week but I was busy with my real life studies. Anyway, I decided to just make one big last quiz for July 26 - August 4. The deadline for this will be on August 11, 06:00 erep time. Like the past quizzes, comment the answer to one of these questions first and win 300 health + 5 Q2 weapons. (Open to all eFilipinos)

BIOLOGY

1) Two identical twin babies are born from one mother. The babies are the result of the fertilization of what cells?

2) As plants undergo respiration, the ratio of the number of ATP produced to the consumed number of Oxygen molecules is called the P/O ratio. Under normal condition, the ratio of P/O is 3. During respiration, the ratio of the number of CO2 molecules released to the molecules of absorbed O2 (CO2 /O2) is called Respiration Quotient (R.Q.). In general, certain organic substance, such as glucose (C6H12O6 =α) , citric acid (C6H8O7 =β), or fatty acid (C6H12O2 =γ), is needed for the respiration of plants. When any one of these substances with the same amount of moles is supplied to plants, what is the correct order for the values of R.Q. and the produced numbers of ATP generated by respiration of plants?

3) In general, plants have a much larger surface area/volume ratio. What is the main·reason for this?

CHEMISTRY

4) Lysine is an essential amino acid composed only of C, H, O and N. One mol of lysine can be decarboxylated to produce one mol cadaverine and one mol carbon dioxide. A 5.35g sample of lysine was decarboxylated to produce 1.61g of CO2. By further analysis, it was found that cadaverine is 58.8%C, 27.4%N, and 13.8%H. Determine the molecular formula of lysine and cadaverine.

5) Pure water is approximately at what molar concentration?

6) The enthalpy of combustion for naphthalene is -1230 kcal/mol. The enthalpies of formation for Carbon dioxide gas and liquid water are -94 and -68 kcal/mol, respectively. What is the enthalpy of formation for naphthalene?

PHYSICS

7) A student sees the top and the bottom edges (opposite corners) of a pool simultaneously at an angle of 14 degrees above the horizontal. What is the new view angle, if he wants to see the top edge and the bottom center of the pool (n = index of refraction, nwater = n2 = 1.33 and nair = n1 = 1)?

8 ) A capacitor (with capacitance C) is connected to a resistor (with resistance R) which is immersed in a liquid whose specific heat coefficient we want to calculate. The mass of the liquid is m and it is confined in a vessel with perfectly insulating walls. Initially the voltage on the capacitor is V. After the switch turns the circuit on, the voltage on the capacitor eventually vanishes and the temperature of the liquid increases by T. Assuming that there were no losses and neglecting the heat capacity of the vessel, the specific heat coefficient of the liquid is what?
(Given that the energy of the capacitor is W=q^2/2C, where q is the initial charge of the capacitor)

MATHEMATICS

9) Given the lines y = 7x + 4 and 5x - 2y = 3, find the circle tangent to both lines with radius 9.

10) Find a quadratic equation whose roots are cube the roots of the equation y = x^2 - 2x - 4 = 0.
