[PEACE GC] Explanation of the new charter

Day 729, 14:09 Published in Argentina Argentina by PEACE Media

Dear citizens of the New World,

You have probably read a lot of articles about the recent events around PEACE Global Community. Facts, opinions, rumours and propaganda have melt and many citizens have sent their worries and questions to their congressmen and ministers; well, we'd better spare everyone's time and make an official article. 😉

PEACE GC has suffered from several problems since this summer. We won't talk once again about this all, it's been done and we have worked a lot to find solutions. Our old charter was just a piece of paper showing some principles and goodwill but wasn't used anymore for practical situations. We needed an official document to remind everyone what is PEACE GC, what are our goals, what any Member Nation can do, must do, doesn't have the right to do, etc. So we wrote a new charter, submitted it to the Security Council, which is the group of Representatives and Advisors from every Member Nation that takes the decisions for the alliance. The Council debated, a list of suggestions was made, each of them has been voted, and we now have a complete charter to submit to you.

You, citizens and congressmen of our countries, you have the responsability to read this new charter, and to vote if you accept it. Some countries left already, before even voting, because they didn't want to stick to the mostly-defensive stance that was the core of PEACE GC during its first months. Many citizens may wonder if the departure of great military powers like Indonesia, Serbia, Hungary, Iran, Turkey and Russia mean the end of PEACE... Obviously not: these countries didn't want to live with the constraints of a defensive alliance and be considered as equal with smaller nations, that's their right and they left for the best interest of everyone. We'll be weaker on the battlefield, but stronger in our dedication and friendship, and eRepublik is a social game with a war module, not a war game where you can meet people.

What changed so much in this new charter ? You can compare the old charter, the draft and the updated charter in this document, with short notes explaining the recent changes votes by the Security Council; but here are some important evolutions:

- update the alliance's objectives: we are defensive, but can attack with a large approval of the Security Council. No more "we are only defensive" that's just unapplicable and leads to "bah, who cares, free for all then".

- two memberships, full and defense. Each country can choose its involvement and duties in the alliance. No more "oh bro, you're not very active you know, so honestly, i don't care about what you say, just stfu and enjoy your croatian TO".

- punishments. Many of us lost trust after some countries' mistakes, broken promises and selfish decisions. Trust is something that builds an alliance, but trust doesn't grant it immortality. Confidence can. With a few simple lines, now we know that rules will be applied, and we are convinced that knowing punishments exist will prevent many mistakes to be done.

- better management and more power for Emeritus. People who played a great role in PEACE GC's history will be chosen, not automatically kept in the Council, and will have one common vote in the Council's decisions.

- more people representing their country, less security leaks. Instead of one Representative and two Advisors, usually two MoD or MoD/MoFA, there will be five Advisors to help the Representative, with separate private sections for economy, diplomacy and military talks. You may think this change is too obvious to be done so late, well, you're not alone.

- military pacts outside the alliance will now have to be voted by the Council or at least validated by the SG. No more "wtf you signed this MPP ? but it will open a war between allies ??!!!"...

Of course, we will listen to the suggestions of all the voting countries to improve the charter furthermore if needed.

As you can see, PEACEgc is alive and working. A SG, pushed by former members that want PEACE to dissolve after their departure, who writes an article about our death doesn't really harm us, no official vote about dissolution has even been started, as said in the article of Lyne Faynel, President of eFrance : http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-en-fr-peacegc-isn-t-dissolved-eaustria-vs-ehungary-1040092/1/20

PEACE AT HOME,
PEACE IN THE WORLD !
