拍马屁/Pai Ma Pi

Day 594, 08:13 Published in China China by Zhou San

What is 拍马屁? In pinyin it is: pai ma pi. Literally, it means "slap horse butt". Pai ma pi is used exactly the same as "kissing someone's butt", flatter, fawn on, etc.

The reason I bring this up is the large increase in temporary bans; myself included. lol as Songum and myself found out, saying things about "goons" in general or the Chinese government is somehow construed as racism in this game, and the ridiculousness of this fact is probably the only thing that myself and Songum, and others, can agree on.

Also we must be the most polarized eCountry in eRep, which is not always bad but its also not always good.

So I propose 3 things and you can accept one or all or none (hopefully not none):

1) Lets tone down the personal attacks. The most recent example is the article bashing Flem. Sure his citizen is not here but he provides jobs for dozens of eChinese. The retort to his articles that he is not here is crap and any real retort should be based on the content of his article. Also, as a much less successful businessman, for example, the tax rate of oil or grain still does matter to me, as well as other company owners, while the common citizen couldn't care less. So even if some of his articles mean nothing to you, they mean something to others. Also, how many other "foreign" GMs spend as much time as him analizing the market, posting in the media and trying to help our developing country? But to the point, what is the point of that article?

On the other side, my article calling goons a bunch of "parent dependent adults" (which is somehow racist), was also not constructive, and I won't do it again.

But its not just the articles its also the comments. If myself, Songum and KJR (which I don't know if it was said but I'm sure is Songum) can be banned for our "racist"-non-racist articles, everyone better watch what you say in the comments since those can be reported too. Let's try to keep our comments constructive. You can disagree with someone without flaming, and in some cases, actually being racist.

2) RL issues. Saying that eRep is not RL but using sensitive RL topics in an eRep way is just semantics and trolling. This includes, but is not limited to the recent Taiwan, Tibet, HK fiasco to ripping on RL China/Government to some recent anti-Korean comments, to calling people immature Americans. In this game we are all eChinese.

In EREP, it is technically possible (according to some posts by the admins in reference to adding more stars to the American flag awhile back), to change things. If Juche completely dominated eChina, a name change is not impossible, not that I wouldn't go down without a fight 🙂.

On the other hand, in this imperfect RL world, some RL issues DO matter. If you want to pursue a Pan-Korean type movement then fine, do your thing. But I have have two "sub"-requests: a) RL Chinese do play this game and making fun of their language is not a good thing, especially since they don't tell you to stop using English; and b) please please change your party logo please. The minute chance that an RL official sees that and its over, and I really don't want to play using a proxy. And while I am open minded (although I lean towards the China side after some research), I could see a new player from China actually reporting it to authorities and it could screw those of us actually living in China.

In short, same as before, but stop the trolling (rather than the flaming).

3) Back to the article title. I suggest we all take a step back for a day or two (then we can go for the throats again if we so desire) and "slap the horse butt" to each other (sounds dirty doesn't it?). Even though we are always disagreeing and ripping on each other, trolling, flaming etc, I am sure we can all say something nice about the opposite group or an individual. So I suggest that everyone who reads this please leave a nice comment. Of course, since its my suggestion, I will begin,

I think most of the "goons" have a good sense of humour. While often hidden in a negative comment (sorry to bring a negative into a positive comment), some of their comments hit the nail on the head. As a foreigner living in China (I am a Canadian who has been living in China for almost 5 of the last 7 years), I can say, from a Western point of view, funny stuff happens here all the time. lol and I have seen stuff happen that made me laugh and then read or remembered "goon" comments or articles that said the exact same thing and it just makes me laugh even harder. I've actually laughed on the street and had people look at me: which makes me laugh more 🙂

So anyways, we can agree to disagree. But let's keep it civil. We are all eChinese/eWest-Koreans depending on the side you take; we all have a vested interest in this eCountry. So lets work together and kick Germany's butt (country above us in the rankings...but not for long if we can work together). In short, politics is politics but we are all countrymates.

(and yes I love using brackets 😛)
