[Pacifica] Progress and an aggression

Day 3,020, 06:28 Published in USA USA by Pacifica HQ

Again nearly three months has passed since the last article by the HQ. Time flies. Let's see how are each member nation faring after the relatively busy months in late 2015, shall we.

Mother Russia under attack
Roughly two weeks ago the sovereignty of a Pacifica member was again blatantly violated as Ukraine launched an unprovoked Natural Enemy law against Russia. One could speculate about the real life animosity between the nations being a casus belli for the Ukrainian aggression, but we in Pacifica do believe that the real life politics has (or at least should have) naught to do with eRepublik. Using them as a justification for war is something we want to avoid.

The first campaign taking place in Moscow was a heavily contested one as the Ukrainians had the element of surprise. In the end Russia managed to defend the region successfully as the whole alliance along with multitude of friends rallied in support of the Russians in face of an unilateral aggression. Since then the Pacifican founding nation has prevailed in every campaign and currently has the Crimean peninsula and parts of Eastern & Northern Ukraine under her control.

Facing an inescapable defeat, the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs proposed to transform the conflict into a training war a while back. The Russian representatives gladly agreed to it as they had no intention of continuing a war that was deemed unnecessary and real life motivated from the start. However, the Ukrainian soldiers did not approve the idea of a training war and continued to fight hard, hence the real war continued. Earlier today the President of Russia has again proposed to change the real war into a training war in Ukrainian media.

Efforts continue in the North
Last time we covered the P/MTO threat in Norway by a Chilean military unit looking to (and back then succeeding in) oust(ing) the natives and install(ing) themselves to the presidential or dictatorial seat. However, soon after our last update on the matter, a revolution was organized aiming to depose the Chileans in office - ending in the triumph of democracy. A subsequent plan to install a native Norwegian as the dictator of the nation to prevent Chileans handing out citizenships, however, failed and the country remained as a democracy.

How has this anything to do with the current situations of Pacifica members, then? The government of Norway asked Finland and Sweden to wipe their nation to prevent further congress elections and therefore further handouts of citizenships to Chileans. The idea was initiated during the last weeks of December, but was greatly boosted and solified by the narrow election victory of the native Norwegian candidate in presidential elections of January.
Further more, should the Chilean group succeed in their endeavour of taking over Norway, the new situation would have a sizeable impact to the (foreign) political climate of the North - affecting Russia and Latvia too. Apart from the Norwegian proceedings, Finland is having an agreed training war with Estonia.

Other member nations
Taiwan is securely retaining her regions in the Korean peninsula and in Japan, while accumulating resources after the hassle of late 2015. The United States is, apart from also continuing to build reserves, reorganizing her holdings in the Korean peninsula, while Colombia is not having any major conflicts at the moment. Latvia has an on/off training war with Estonia, but is mainly concentrated in finishing up with the recovery from the expensive conflicts of late 2015.
