[ONE] Our Great War is a Spiritual War

Day 1,553, 10:04 Published in Canada North Macedonia by ONE HQ

Dear friends,

I’m writing to you today on behalf of the ONE HQ. I am writing to our citizens, our members, our people. I’m not writing to troll, and I’m not writing to the Terra and EDEN citizens who love to amuse themselves by trolling articles like this one.

Over the last few months all of us in ONE have faced what is possibly the greatest trial of our times. We’ve been beaten back, wiped, and wiped again. Some of our countries, including my home nation of the UK, have suffered without a congress and have been reliant on reserves and donations. It’s been a tough time, and as far as the endless war goes, we’ve been on the back foot.

For years EDEN justified it’s defeats by saying that they had a damage deficit versus ONE. Whilst that might once have been true, in the earliest days, it hasn’t been true for more than eight months. In recent times we are outgunned by EDEN and Terra by over a billion damage a day. Sounds like a lot? It both is and it isn’t. It isn’t so much that we can’t hope to match them, but it is enough that for now we struggle to beat them soldier for soldier.

Yet as the endless war grinds on, a new war has slowly emerged in the background. A spiritual war, fought in the hearts and minds of ONE and TEDEN citizens. We struggle not to give in to despair, and they struggle to hold together their fragile alliance. We struggle against one another in a battle of survival, because no matter what the battlefield results say, EDEN is losing the only war which matters.

In our hearts we citizens of ONE know that our future lies together. We burned our bridges when we crossed them, and we formed a pact to the death. We are united in the knowledge that we have faced the worst they can throw at us, and we are still standing. Battered, bruised and beset on all sides by small men, but the ONE Colossus stands proud in the knowledge that soon we will once again take our rightful place as the dominant alliance of the new world.

On the other hand, what lessons has TEDEN learned from its time on the bottom? Not many, it appears. Terra and EDEN were forced together for one reason- mutual protection from ONE. Without the common enemy, it becomes apparent that the pact of convenience has very little in it for Terra. All their gains in Europe were made by Terra soldiers, and each night Terra claws back the rounds EDEN lost during the day. Despite the fact Terra effectively holds EDEN up, they are (as a member of Terra HQ said in a recently leaked conversation) seen as very much the Junior partner in the pact. Not to mention the open hostility between Cyprus and Greece/China.

On top of this EDEN itself, which accused ONE for eons of being a Serbian puppet alliance, seems to have taken on its own propaganda as the new model for government. EDEN is increasingly Croatian and Greek. I like people from all countries, including Croatia. But it’s hard to deny, especially when the Presidents of those countries as much as admitted to Bulgaria that if it comes to it, they’d rather have Turkey than them. It is an old story that everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others. I don’t know what happened to EDEN in the last six months, but somewhere along the line it lost the idea of brotherhood and fell in love with who gives the most damage, leaving countries like Finland and Bulgaria in the cold.

ONE made the courageous decision not to give into Turkish blackmail a few months ago. At the time that meant losing a new 500 million damage to TEDEN. Now it probably means a lot more. But we made the decision because we felt the Turkish leadership (not the citizens!) were messing us around each day with new demands. And we’re not an alliance where one country can lord it over everyone and use the threat of joining the enemy as a stick to beat down any complaints. So we kicked them out, and they ran to EDEN, where it looks like they’re playing their old tricks again. I fought with Turkey for over 2 years, and I respect Turkish players as a great bunch, and some of my closest friends in the game. But the guys you’re sending to represent you are narrow minded and corrupt, and are selling you for their own personal gain.

Take heart, ONE soldiers. Stick together, fight for your allies before yourself. Don’t think of who wins this region or that region, think of the bonds which bind us. Think of the spiritual war which me must win if we’re to win the war on the battlefield. EDEN has shown it doesn’t care about its members. It has shown it is willing to use Terra, but not willing to reciprocate. We need to show the world what ONE stands for. An endless barrage of avatars: the ONE legions marching once again.

Now is the time for new players to rise up and take the reins of your countries, to help and contribute to this fight-back. Now is the time for the older players, long dormant, to rise up from their slumber and support the next generation in government and on the battlefield. Selflessly we fought, and selflessly we’ll fight again.

For ONE.

Iain
