[NoTie4CP] The Keystones of June

Day 2,752, 14:30 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by NoTie112

Dear citizens of the eNetherlands,

In preparation for my run in the elections of the Country President of the eNetherlands I will enclose my goals and thoughts for next month. I've decided to keep it short as I'd rather be judged on my accomplishments than my election promises. I've decided on a few keystones for the coming month which I will primarily focus on.

Keystone 1: Germany
The absolute priority is to deal with the inherited and (most likely) unresolved issue of the German aggression against our Country as soon as possible. The goal is at least to restore the status quo before the German invasion, in the ideal situation in addition to normalized relations. We have survived both Poland and Hungary and there is no doubt in my mind that we will be able to deal with Germany in a less troublesome and less humiliating matter. In the current circumstances it is absolutely unthinkable that we will ''resolve'' this issue by selling parts of our freedom, which we've so deservedly gotten back after years of occupation just recently.

By all means necessary I will ensure that Germany is removed from our lands. For once we're up against odds which we can resist and will resist, if necessary. Let's rally behind the flag and show the world what we are capable of, so that once again we'll be a respected nation that nations want to be associated with. Even a foe is more respecting of an enemy that is capable of honourably defeating (be it militarily or diplomatically) them, than one bowing in order to live in their towers built on the remaining slices of what was once called the Netherlands.

Keystone 2: Foreign Policy
The Foreign Policy we've had for years has not failed - but it has certainly crumbled. The seemingly peaceful region has turned into one where our neighbours slice a knife in our backs when convenient. For years we've been believing to be -this- close to joining one of the big boys - be it Sirius or Pacifica. People are hesitant to move on with reality and cling onto a non-existent international view of matters.

However, not all is lost. We've been working on our foreign policy ever since the birth of our nation and those efforts will never be lost and should never be neglected by us either. While we're valuing those relations and will keep them alive and kicking, we should dabble unknown waters if that ensures us a stronger position in the future. As I've stated many times before - We should slightly adjust the steering wheel, before we reach the crossroad. Neither should we radically turn left or right, nor should we stubbornly go ahead in the same direction. Both will result in an eventual crash of our vehicle.

Our foreign policy is an affair that is the property of the whole nation and it's citizens, not just an government that happens to be elected this or that month. Therefore I will task my government with polling the feelings in our nation about our international allegiances. Congress and Government will discuss, elaborate and decide upon this very important affair in a consensual relationship. New opportunities that have been rising recently, should not be squashed without a proper consideration of it. Old allegiances should neither be swept away at the singular hand-waiving of a Country President.

Keystone 3: The Dictator-President-Congress Triarchy
Just a few months ago we've been enforced to live with a Dictator out of pure necessity. This new position has caused an extensive switch of responsibilities and tasks over the various institutions in our country. It has also caused an incredible discrepancy between our traditions of ruling in comparison to the factual situation that has now become apparent. We've seen several decisions (like joining/leaving alliances and signing MPPs) been taken without Congressional approval, whereas just a few months ago such approval was paramount to seeking such decisions. Expectedly, it results in an incredible level of bipartisanship regardless of whose in charge.

Although this might seem like purely a Congressional affair, it isn't. I believe to restore the democratic values of old we'll need an extensive and elaborate cooperation between the Dictator, the Government and Congress to reach a consensus on how the future of these various institutions should proceed.

Keystone 4: Bipartisanship
The last months have been noticed by the dubious symptom of extreme bipartisanship. Although it's hardly in my capabilities to personally and solely solve this, I do believe I'm the right person to restore the harmony in our country. I'm on excellent terms with all major factions and individuals in our country and I've learnt long ago the hard way that diplomacy and political skill are paramount to the success of any governmental term. I'll make sure that my government is in close touch with Congress and will show it's face extensively in both the in-game community and out-game community (forum/IRC) channels. I will also re-introduce the weekly opportunity to ask questions to CP (and indirectly it's government) from my previous governmental terms; ''Ask your CP!''.

It will be an hot month indeed
