[!Notice!] JLP Public Statement
Laurana Psion
A united eJapan through diversity
Public debates on a diverse range of ideas and opinions, between congressmen and political parties will lead to better policy, a better economy, and a better eJapan.During Beta, the BP and the NPJ (now JUP) dominated the political scene. In the last couple of months the Japanese Labour Party made sure that there always was a serious third voice to be heard and to be considered. Having too few active parties weakens our democratic process which becomes monopolised and stagnant, leading to polarisation and therefore less unity, not more. That’s why the JLP welcomed the transformation of the ULJ into the NAP, leveling the political playing field even more. Nevertheless, we believe in the importance of the continued presence of the JLP, to carry on providing an honest and critical voice to debates.
The current credit crunch in real life has shown us that a completely free market is not desirable and that a strong government is needed. We need a government that will properly facilitate the current transition from beta to v1 and that actively seeks to lower inflation, increase gold reserves and maintain a stable Yen; we have always supported previous attempts at doing so.
At the same time this does not mean that the JLP supports a government that is overly involved in every aspect of eJapan’s citizens; a healthy balance between a free market economy and a command economy (government controlled) needs to exist, subject to the demands of the current situation.
The Japanese Labour Party has been a stable factor in eJapan politics for months, in an otherwise very hectic period. The current JLP Members of Congress (justinm, Jheph, Laurana Psion, to name a few) have been actively involved in shaping the current debates on the transition from beta, the new industries, new tax rates and the role of our government. We don’t promise to radically change eJapan or ourselves, just to help build a better and stronger eJapan. With your confidence and support, we will be able to continue doing so.
PerfectMelody,
Party President of the Japanese Labour Party

"diverse range of ideas, opinions"
Stop stealing our slogan, and ideology!
Although, I do admire the fact, that you have took similar approach as our party, to promote more diversity of ideas, and Voice. nice change from justinm, who had very closed mind, and would not listen to other opinion other than his worker favoring ways.
"a healthy balance between a free market economy and a command economy (government controlled) needs to exist"
Yes I agree we do need a balance. and I think government pulling out of many of the part of our economy will just do the job to balance everything out.
Very sorry Akki, and without meaning any offense, I simply wasn't aware that the NAP even had a slogan! If it has been published so far, I'm afraid I have not seen it.
True, it seems that what was written may sound similar to the NAP's belief in "unity, and alliances of players, with diversity of ideas, talent, and skill" but I don't believe that this is outright plagiarism. After all, even in real life, many large parties internationally have naturally adapted and centralized their politics over time so that they are very similar today (eg. the Labour and Conservative parties in the UK have never been more alike).
It merely seems that some of the JLP's beliefs may overlap slightly with the NAP, and to be fair, there isn't quite as much to have a stance on here compared to real life. We are not "stealing" any ideology, any more so than if when there are several left or right wing parties in a given political system. What is more important would be our specific approach to matters, which I believe have often both differed and supported those of the NAP.
Furthermore, it is my personal belief that justinm and the JLP have always supported wide and open debate. It is quite natural for there to be opposing arguments, and therefore, people who are at odds with one another (eg. you and justinm). It would be unfair to accuse justinm of being close-minded and not listening to others just because he often (and it seems notoriously) disagrees with you; it would imply that YOU yourself are also close-minded and not open to other's ideas, because you too often vehemently disagree with him!
In fact, if your reasoning is true, it would seem that you are the more close-minded of the two, considering the recently quite frequent and unjustified personal attacks upon the JLP in general and now, former party president justinm.
I would appreciate it if you would please refrain from such unsubstantiated slander in future!
I guess on some issues we think alike, on other issues we disagree strongly. As long as it doesn't turn into name calling it will benefit the public debate.
It should be interesting though. We are party with similar ideology, except on the exact opposite of the spectrum. Obviously, JLP want tax increase, and favours worker based economy, While, both theagent007, others and I from NAP, favours very low tax, and favours suppliers based economy.
Yet we both favour open mindedness, and diverse and more voice.
Two party in opposite spectrum with similar ideas... I wonder what the future hold for both of our parties, and It won't be uncommon to see NAP and JLP on each other's throat, considering the fact, we highly disagree on economic stance.
@Everyone
I should point out however that while the markets may fix themselves eventualy in this current "eCrisis", government support should be used to ease that tradition of our economy. For example we're discussing the possibility of intervening in the eratic monetary market to create a strong and stable environment to trade, we're also sending government Organisations to other countries to set up resource companies for Japan, we've shut down Nippon inustries to provide extra employees etc.
As little government intervention is good during times of relative market stability but during these hectic times i would definitely say that some government intervention may be needed to get us out of this crisis as fast as possible.
So in that respect i agree with the JLP entirely.
"we've shut down Nippon industries to provide extra employees etc."
That was smart choice. providing more workers for other fields.
get real you're not the first nor the last party that will think along these lines. if you really are for that slogan or motto or ideology then you'd support people who have the same ideology rather than accuse them of such things.
it's not that i'm closed minded it's just that i pick a side.
justinm, I know you are good at personal attacks, but do not cross the line. Neither side will benefit, and we'll both just end up will more hatred.
Ok, how about you BOTH (Akki & justinm) try to cool off for a while. To be honest though, Akki, i feel that you often start these things by making potentially provocative statements as if you are trying to stir up trouble...
sorry for hijacking the column. i just found it unacceptable to be accused of stealing an idea that is universal. i was getting the impression that unity is something exclusive when in fact the idea itself, unity, tries to break these divisions that create exclusivity.
@justinm
You did nothign wrong, don't worry about it. But you are right, there isn't any "stealing" of ideas here.
