Norwegian Green Party Charter of Values and Principles

We Affirm our responsibility to one another, to the greater good of the Norwegian community and to future generations.

We Commit ourselves as the Norwegian Green Party to implement these interrelated principles below.

Article 1 - NGP Membership

1. All citizens are free to join the Norwegian Green Party and will all have the same benefits of being a member.
2. The NGP will work with the Government to counter PTO threats and anyone labeled as a PTO'er by the Government will not be considered a legal member of the NGP.

Article 2 - Participatory Democracy

1. That all elected representatives are committed to the principles of transparency, truthfulness, and accountability in governance.
2. Strong support for giving young members a voice through educating, encouraging and assisting youth involvement in every aspect of political life including their participation in all decision making bodies.
3. All citizens are free to candidate themselves for election.
4. Should more than one NGP member wish to candidate themselves for Presidential elections the Party President will be responsible for organizing a party vote to choose a sole candidate.
5. The NGP wishes to give all members equal opportunity in elections and therefore will rotate on the priority list during Congress elections. All members are subject including the Party President. For example: Persons A, B, C are elected into Congress during January and persons D, E and F are not elected than the February elections will see persons D, E and F rise to the top of the priority list therefore guaranteeing equal opportunity for all.

Article 3 - Pro Choice

1. The NGP is a Pro Choice party and will ensure that if only one candidate is running during Presidential elections that the NGP will do our best to find a second candidate, whether presenting a NGP candidate or finding another candidate from another party. Should the NGP be the only party to present a candidate we will still fully commit ourselves to finding a second candidate from another party.

Article 4 - Respect Diversity

1. All members realize the importance of political diversity within and outside of the NGP and will promote the development of respectful relationships along these lines.

Article 5 - Charter Amendments

1. Amendments to the Charter may be made at times when the Party President opens a debate on the issue.
2. Amendments to the Charter may be made at times when 33% of the NGP membership wishes to re-open the Charter.
