Welcome to The Sword and the Sakura News, War Report Edition.

This edition does not contain the Political news and Commentary of a full edition, but instead focuses on the Alliance campaigns and warfare. The next full edition will be on Thursday, June 6th once the Presidential elections have come to a close.

Authors Note: Politics season is in full swing so articles will be slower in coming, my apologies.

Red Circle- Resistance war

Arrows- Directions of attack

Overview
For the moment it seems that TWO's assaults have stalled out and the tide is turning on many fronts. The three pronged invasion of North America has failed to meet any of its strategic goals and the remaining TWO forces are struggling to hold out. In South America, the Argentinians that were dominating Resistance Wars are proving less successful in direct alliance battles. Diplomatic efforts in Asia appear to be going CoT's way as formerly neutral Balkans nations fight against Serbia. Europe sees the tide turning on multiple fronts as CoT nations gain the upper hand.

North America

After successes in Occupied France, The United States has turned its attention back to its home regions. The last bastion of Serbian forces on the continent, Georgia, has already faced a resistance war it managed to put down. Now however they face a conventional attack by American forces, backed up by its allied MPPs. At the Time of this article's writing, American forces were only a single point away from winning the battle. A Serbian loss here will end their presence in North America and delay any potential return for quite a while.

Colombian forces face an uphill battle in Mexico. While they have managed to drive deep into the Mexican homeland, constant resistance wars have cut off their rear territories. Potentially fearing a border with the United States if they move any farther north, Colombia has instead opted to attack the Southeast of Mexico. This territory holds the only copy of Rubber in the country and its occupation will inhibit Mexican weapons production.

South America

Even as the Colombian's doggedly continue their invasion of Mexico, Peruvian forces have already conquered half of their unoccupied home territories. At this point Peru can either attack Caribe e Insular to close the border with Mexican regions or attack Pacifica and leave open the possibility of a Mexican counter attack into Colombia.

(No image because there has been no significant movement)

Farther south, the Chile-Argentina war has stalemated. Attacks across their natural border are proven difficult and unsuccessful for both sides. This is likely due to TWO and CoT concentrating on the messy European fronts.

Asia/South Pacfific

Yup, still as quiet as ever. For the time being, most Asian countries are concentrating on their diplomacy and alliance battles through MPPs.

Europe
Ok folks, try to keep up. This continent is a mess of battles and strategic maneuvers.

In what many consider a surprising turn of events, the United States has reversed the course of war against Serbia. After stalling the war in North America, a second invasion of Aquitaine faced far greater success. Capitalizing on their gains, the Americans pushed farther east into Midi-Pyrenees. A couple of resistance wars have started in the area but both are being put down by occupying forces. It will be interesting to see if the Americans intend to chase Serbia back into the Balkans or if they will find some way to bottle them up.

Multiple resistance wars have carved up the former Serbian Empire in the Balkans. With the liberation of Croatian home regions, Serbia faces a second front against its old rival in the region. A successful Croatian invasion of occupied Italy along with multiple successful resistance wars have cut off Serbia's supply route into Italy and France. A second Croatian attack to further cut up the severed supply line was defeated however, and now the Serbian forces are pushing back in hopes of reconnecting their resources.

British and Lithuanian forces in the area have declared war on Sweden and Denmark in the hopes of creating their own empires out of former CoT occupied regions. However, their focus on the small countries has allowed Germany to turn back the Lithuanian invasion of its homeland. After pushing out TWO forces at Western Pomerania, Germany has moved to attack the Lithuanian colonies in Sweden. Unfortunately, the Germans are fighting as the only CoT power in a region dominated by TWO nations.

(Author's opinion: Germany is putting up a brave fight, I wish them the best of luck.)

Along with the Serbian invasion of North America, the Hungarian invasion of Russia was envisioned to be one of TWO's greatest successes. But just as with their Balkan ally, the reality is proving much different. Resistance wars have torn apart the formerly complete dominance of Hungary in Ukraine as the old Balkans powerhouse is unable to cope with the simultaneous battles against Russia and resistance forces. In its Russian campaign, Hungary has once more stalled out. Its push into the Urals was halted and a resistance war eliminated its presence in the North Caucasus. Now Hungary is doing its best to defend against a Russian assault on its remaining territory in Volga.

In its continued attempts to assist its ally Hungary, Latvia has pushed deeper into Russian territory. But Asgard Alliance nation Finland has declared war on Latvia and pushed south to help its CoT ally. Even as Latvia advances against Russia, Finnish forces are taking over its gains.

At the moment it looks like CoT and Asgard forces are slowly pushing TWO out of Russia, but if Hungary's allies can get their coordination together the tide might turn back in their favor.
