[New Era] Sven for PP

Day 1,968, 14:09 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Sven Goran Duran-Duran

Fellow, valued members of New Era. I write today to ask for your support in my run as PP in the forthcoming primary.

I won't dwell on my experience but for the record but in just over 3 years of playing I have successfully stood for congressman 5 times, have served in Cabinet twice as a Minister, have served as a Deputy Minister on another 2 occasions and also helped lead the old national military unit(s) before the onset of the new military-unit culture that we know today.

In the British Army some of you may know me as Captain of the 5th regiment and the chap who dishes out the food.

In New Era, I am a long time member of the New Era Council and am currently Councillor to the party - a role that I was honoured to accept. I currently help out with recruiting and provide advice and council to the New Era leadership.

I am a proud and loyal eUK citizen and have never held citizenship of another country in all my time playing the game. I have never fought against the eUK, have never stole from it and have never cheated it. If elected would endeavour to faithfully serve the party with a reasoned and purposeful approach.

I am also proud of New Era and its achievements. In 7 months we have grown from nothing into the force that we are today. This achievement is of course down to our growing and active membership and as PP, I would make recruitment and retention of our members a priority.

I propose a 8 point plan:

1 ) Implementation of the shadow government - with a full shadow Cabinet to be appointed during my term.

2 ) A new donation cycle and an expansion of the New Era Charity Bank with half of the funds raised going to help New Era members and half to the NHS. I would also like to consider cementing the role and scope of the Bank as a "0%" bank - that is to say a Bank that pays no interest to its depositors (but will return their deposit on application with notice at 0😵 but continues to lend to new players with no strings on the same basis it does now.

3 ) Lobby for the inclusion of the British Army in the Armed Forces Group. Although it is reasonable to ask Military Units to make some changes to coordinate with the Ministry of Defence, we believe that they should not have to give up things like party affiliations or be permanently excluded from working together.

4 ) Implementation of the decisions we have come to as a party, including for instance, changing the New Era logo back to include the Union Flag.

5 ) New Era Education - I want to also look at the possibility of implementing a "Congress Test" for all potential congressmen (from any party) that wish to stand under the New Era banner. This is an idea I have discussed privately in policy workshops and is one that I would like to have a full an open debate about with the the party as a whole. The idea would be to educate potential congressmen about the basic duties of a congressmen, the potential pitfalls of the role and make sure they are fully informed before throwing themselves into the job. The test would be easy and would be based on information found on the eUK library and the ewiki. Just to repeat though, I wouldn't consider implementing this without prior discussion and a vote.

6 ) Explore the idea of a New Era Ambassadorial Programme. This would involve New Era sending out members to foreign countries, actively recruiting, whilst also making friends and alliances with other parties abroad and reporting back to the New Era Council.

7 ) Continuing the good work of Goku Jones in his "Policy and Democracy" articles with a view to a 4th vote on policy happening within 2 weeks of me taking on the role.

8 ) Further to point (7) above, and specifically in reference to this article here - link - it seems that we are moving to a codifiable and definable agreement regarding our ideology and policy. There is a lot in that article that sounds less like loose group of policies and more like a constitution and that is something I would also like to propose as PP - a Constitution for New Era.

What would go in it would of course be debated and voted on by you, our membership. But to start with I would like to put the question to the party - "Does New Era need a constitution?" first to sound out whether such an idea would be popular or indeed, practicable. In my opinion, a Constitution for New Era would help define the basic principles of the party whilst also providing a framework for future policy debate. In my view, any potential constitution should stick the basics - thus not restricting any future policy choices but rather providing basic grounding on - for example - the mechanics of voting in party votes.

"it's Duran-Duran for me"

Having considered the above I hope you'll consider voting for me for PP.

I'll finish with some words from Sir Winston which still sum up very much where I see the party today.

Sven for PP \o/

"Voters take to the polls today and vote New Era , we tell it straight , we won't tell you lies , we wont play dirty, we are a true party of friendship and fun, others scared by us have tried to dirty our name in the media , you won't find the good members at New Era pulling them kind stunts, but what has gone has gone , New Era doesn't look in the past or hold grudges , we are a party that moves forward, we are a party that cares, we are a party that has changed the game in the UK. We are a party that will still fight against the odd for fairness and open government. We want to make the UK great , we want to dream higher, we are not just Buzz words, we have dream makers and free thinkers , we are good people , we are the future. " Sir Winston, Day 1952
