[MOO] The Captains of Industry (Day 1209)

Day 1,209, 08:50 Published in Canada Canada by Addy Lawrence

Several days ago, admin launched the new Military Unit (MU) mechanic. For 40g, you can create a MU and become the leader. An MU has a maximum membership of 50 citizens. The members must apply. The leader accepts or rejects the applications. Members can be removed by the leader as well. The benefits of membership are small at this point, members get exclusive access to a "shout forum". It is anticipated that admin will develop additional benefits to this mechanic, high hopes exist for damage and military rank bonuses.

On behalf of MOO, I created a MU. The primary reason for doing this was that it was a splendid opportunity to put into place a program that has been discussed for some time on the MOO forums, and that is the notion of a group or platoon called the Captains of Industry.

Captains of Industry are citizens of eRepublik who are most interested in the economics module. They prefer to level up their economic skill than their strength or military rank. They prefer to click "Work" than to click "Fight". They also value the military service because the military protects the economic investments they have made. Captains of Industry also work together because they can accomplish more as a team through work-swap arrangements and loans than they can on their own.

This MOO MU, The Captains of Industry, has a series of beliefs and expectations arising out of lengthy discussion on the MOO forum. I am sharing them with you today and inviting you to consider joining.

THE CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY

The Captains of Industry are an economic military unit. Their primary contribution to the national military effort is the supply of affordable food and weapons. Fully leveled up Captains of Industry will actively donate weapons and food to the "fight-centric" military forces of eCanada.

Captains of Industry must be a member of MOO. Members of the CAF and TCO, as well as any other military-centric group are welcome.

Captains of Industry are focused on economics and developing the economic skill of their citizen. The strength skill is the next developmental priority, and the rank skill is the third.

Captains of Industry must have at least three companies. This is not to make the group elitist, it is to demonstrate that the member has an ambition in eRep economics.

Captains of Industry are expected to self-supply food and weapons. Captains who "have" are expected to share with those who "have-not".

Captains of Industry are expected to mentor a protege. Captains are encouraged to lend gold to the protege and enter into work-swap arrangements to accelerate the leveling up of the protege.

Captains of Industry are expected to support the companies of other members. This support comes in the form of buying raw and products from fellow members as well as working for the companies of fellow members.

Captains of Industry will lobby the government for official militia status so that they are eligible for government funding. This funding will go toward economic skill development and productive capacity as opposed to weapons and strength development.

Captains of Industry will put down their tools and pick up their guns for Level 5 (Critical) battles. Battles less than this level primarily serve to level up military skill which distracts from the focus of the Captain of Industry. Captains are trusted to make the work/fight judgement call in times of crisis as it may serve the national interest better to work and put guns in the hands of our tanks than it would be to use these arms ourselves.

Captains of Industry are encouraged to maintain a stockpile adequate enough to keep the supply chain flowing through times of crisis. We do not want to be caught using our fists in a gunfight.

Captains of Industry will be given priority within MOO when assigning seats for congress.

It takes all kinds of citizens to make the eWorld go around, and the Captains of Industry provide a home for this kind of eCitizen. The Captains of Industry will not appeal to everyone. If it appeals to you, please consider joining.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.
