[MoIA] Government Update 14 JAN 2011

Day 1,151, 10:23 Published in Japan Japan by Nihon no Koe

This is eJapan's official newspaper. If you are interested in authentic eJapanese news, please vote and subscribe! Also, please stop by and visit us at #eNippon and #eJapan.gov on the Rizon IRC server.

ELECTIONS

Party president elections are tomorrow. I realize that some of you just looked at me like a traveler sleeping on a long flight who had been nudged awake only to realize that it was so a stewardess could ask you if you needed a pillow or not. Please, I beg you, do not give me that look. The party president elections are much more important than you might give them credit for; one PTOer as party president and your whole house will be on fire. Do some research, read up on the names, ask around if need be, and most importantly, choose well, eJapan.

FOREIGN POLICY

There is a vote taking place to set South Korea as our natural enemy. Do not set fire to your stash of kimchi yet, please. This is not a call to arms. We have negotiated with the South Korean government and have agreed upon a region swap so that our great nation can acquire the grain producing region of Jeju. There is also an in-depth debate on the forums between myself and fellow Diet-member Sophia Forrester on the issue of organizing a long-term training war with the Koreans.

*EDIT* Negotiations concerning the region swap have fallen apart. But make no mistake, this was not due to our nations hitting a diplomatic brick wall; rather, it stemmed from a set of reservations both of our nations shared. Our Japan-Korea cooperation will continue, and as proof of this, South Korea has given us the go-ahead to commence with the proposed training war. Fight at Gyeongsangnam-do to pitch in.

COMMUNICATION

Those of you who keep up with this paper will know that one common theme in this section has been about the poor state of our main IRC channel. I can tell you today that we have finally found a solution. Our main IRC channel has been changed completely and the proper people have finally been given the proper powers. Come visit us on the Rizon server, channel #eNippon.

DOMESTIC AFFAIRS

I'm repeating myself on this, I know, but I hope to raise as much awareness as possible among our young and tender citizens. The Sempai Kouhai Program has been revived to help ensure that all our karate-kid wannabes and hordes of hopeless otaku ripen into dependable e-adults. Hakaisha is the man in charge. If you’re new and have any questions concerning the game or are looking for help, send a message to the Sempai Kouhai org, where they’ll be glad to lend a helping hand.
