[MOFA UPDATE:] Alliances, Taiwan and other things.

Day 1,739, 08:45 Published in Japan United Kingdom by Greatmoff
Greetings fellow citizens.

I’m writing this to give you a quick update on all things related to Foreign Affairs so you know I’m not just sitting on my laurels.

Ambassadors

Japan currently has 9 Ambassadors in total representing us in a total of 25 countries. The full list of Ambassadors is on the forums here. I’d like to remind you all that it’s not too late to apply to be an ambassador, effectively any country which is not currently covered on that list is available.

Furthermore I have asked all ambassadors to make a small report on the country or countries they are representing us in. These reports will be available to anyone on the forums. I hope we will have all the reports in by the end of the weekend and I hope to publish a summary shortly after.

Embassy headers

Although this is a relatively small thing, I have asked a couple of people to make a header for our ambassadors to use on our embassies on foreign forums.

I think it is very good, and would like to thank Tyrannus for having a go and making the example you see above. It is good to see citizens willing to offer their skills for the benefit of the country.

We have decided however to use the (fantastic) one (below) made by Zodiarque as can be seen below:

I would like to thank both of them for their efforts.

MPPs

Recently after discussions with Nowe and amongst congress I have been seeking out new MPPs for Japan to sign. So far I have had promising discussions with four countries. Of these I can proudly announce that we are adding Sweden to our MPP list. Our president Nowe proposed it with the Swedish president’s approval, and I’d like to thank our congress for swiftly voting it through.

Hopefully more MPPs will follow in the near future.

Taiwan/RoC

I have seen multiple citizens suggest that we seek out peace talks with Taiwan. I can confirm that initial talks have been held between our two nations, and they have been very respectful. At the moment nothing has been agreed upon, and I’m not able to release any more specific details, however I can promise that I will continue to partake in the talks, and will endeavour to reach an agreement both nations can be satisfied with.

Battle of the Alliances

As you no doubt know, the admins have created a battle of the alliances competition. Nations sign up as part of an alliance, and receive a free MPP with everyone in the alliance. Details of who is in what alliance can be seen here.

Japan decided not to join any of these alliances in order to prevent any potential complications with our MPP list or with nations we’re currently looking to MPP. My personal recommendation to the president was that we either enter a ‘token’ alliance on our own, or that he didn’t enter us at all. I want to make it clear that it was a conscious decision not to join rather than a mishap on the government’s behalf.

Conclusion

These are all of the details within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for now. I promise to keep you up to date as and when I am able to.

If anyone has any questions regarding foreign affairs please feel free to message me, and I will answer them as best I am able too.

Take care.
